exactly, she is the correct age.
desmagee, how sure are you that ALW's comment was to her? people generally think it was one fo the other two but im with you on this one! she has bags of talent and we all need to get behind her Frame by frame analysing that clip, Jessie sang first followed by the girl who was eliminated. At that point the judges faces are clearly shown without any emotion. Patently it wasn't either of the first 2 girls that moved the judges. The first glimpse of any emotion is from JB who's open mouth is very telling, this is after there is a changeover between Samantha singing and Niamh singing. Its easy to assume it was Sam singing but if you listen you will find the clip is whilst Niamh is on the floor. Still while Niamh is singing, ALW is shown gulping. After the girls leave, ALW makes the telling comment. 3 of the judges wiped a tear away as the 4 girls left the room, so it is clear that most (if not all of them) were very moved by one or more performance. Many viewers were fooled by the camera panning to Jessie outside the room after ALW uttered his accolade, but that was inconsistent with what actually happened in the room. The camera did pick up Niamh's emotional comment afterwards but Samantha was not recorded as speaking. (the whole clip is on our website). Whilst it cannot be conclusive that John's open mouth was caused by Niamh rather than Samantha, it is certain that ALW's gulp was close to the end of Niamh's turn. I am certain that the comment was not directed at Jessie and given the timing of visual clues, I am convinced that it was Niamh that ALW referred to as "world class". Comments during the last 2 weeks shows would indicate that all the judges are constantly full of praise for Niamh's work. ALW further picked out Niamh and complimented her after the group song last week. I suspect that when they finish singing pop songs, more viewers will see and hear what the judges did during that significant recall. |

Its equally valid to argue that the judges were emotional about the performance as a whole rather then just that any of individuals. Also the emotional element undoubtably grew throughout the performance so to discount Jessie just because the judges didnt seem as emotional at the start, is I feel a slightly simplistic way of looking at it. There is also no way of knowing how the clip was edited - who knows the judges facial expressions may have been taken from another performance entirely and simply patched in to make good television. To be honest i think theres no real way of knowing who the lord was talking about from what we were shown and the only way would be to ask him!!! |

I'm not entirely contradicting you as its very possible that Andrew may have been talking about Niamh but in my opinion its every bit as likely he was speaking about either of the other girls too.

Secondly, you should know that mens reactions are more instant and reactive than you imagine, so the jaw dropping and the gulps were reactions to an immediate event. The tears afterwards may have been the result of the "total" performances but the facial reactions were as a result of something that was happening "in that instant" before their eyes. |

ALW further picked out Niamh and complimented her after the group song last week. I suspect that when they finish singing pop songs, more viewers will see and hear what the judges did during that significant recall. I remember that scene very well, and in my opinion it was the second girl (who was eliminated) who gave far and away the strongest performance. Jessie sang first and she wasn't particularly emotional in her performance (She was trying, but I think the nerves held her back or whatever.) The second girl (the larger one) blew Jessie away in terms of performance, and afterwards Jessie could be seen crying while the final two were singing, clearly a result of the either the second girl's performance or (more likely) just the emotional intensity of the situation. The final two girls (including Niamh), I didn't feel gave anywhere near as much as the second girl, certainly not Samantha. We certainly didn't see much "world class" performing from Niamh in the short clip (but it was all so brief). In summary, I'm absolutely certain the "world class" comment wasn't about Jessie, and surely couldn't have been about Samantha. I think it was probably the second girl who was eliminated, although it does seem strange that they eliminated the "world class" one. I remember when Jessie came out she looked a little pissed off. She did this thing where she kinda barged past one of the other girls who was going to embrace her, and she walked off by herself. Possibly she just wanted to be alone to express her emotion, but I got the impression from that that she felt she was outclassed by at least one of the other singers. (Is this way too much analysis of such a brief scene or what?) I think in general, in these kind of TV shows when judges are discussing contestants behind their backs — the editors always mislead people, so we really have no indication of who the "world class" person was. For all we know, the comments could have related to a completely different thing to what we saw — the four girls could have sung through several songs, or they may have even had more than one lot of girls back in to sing! That's the craziness of editing. At least with the live show we have some basic idea of what's going on. Who was Andrew talking to on the first live show? Apologies if this has already been mentioned… On the first live show, did anyone notice that it looked as though Andrew said something like: "Niamh, I know you're a great actress", but then the camera cut to Cleo, who was standing next to her, and Cleo smiled at Andrew as if to say "thanks for saying that about me". Did anyone else find this confusing? I sure did. |

It would indeed be odd if ALW's World Class performer was eliminated after that clip. I don't think thats at all plausable.
As to what ALW said to Niamh and Cleo---he said "Niamh, one thing I know about you, you are a fantastic actress with words as well....and (without using Cleo's name ALW looked at Cleo and said) "you acted so well with the song, really wonderful". |

"Niamh has a completely different song compared to last week, showing a lovely simplicity. Although she got wonderful comments from everybody, she's a little bit nervous because of the comment from Denise about being fragile. This song is very touching and beautiful and if she performs in that way she will be absolutely fine."
I'm intrigued! |

I thought Niamh did really well tonight and I loved her performance but it was not a song to show off "Nancy" qualities.
I hope she gets through as she is a star in the making for me but she needs a more appropriate song for next week. |

Last nights performance was amazing.
![]() Niamh might not be a typical Nancy but she'd make a bloody brilliant one all the same.

"Niamh’s interpretation of Moon River was spellbinding and the audience reaction (in total captivated silence) was a sign that she had everyone mesmerised. Such a vulnerable performance and as ALW remarked, as enchanting as Audrey Hepburn. The pure quality (aside from the mike problem at the start) of Niamh’s voice had the judges mitigating in awe over the still fragility of her rendition. Hypnotic, spectacular, beautiful and engaging were the Judges remarks and ALW was just as magnanimous in his praise. Niamh is certainly capable of redefining the role of Nancy".

While Niamh's performance was so much more still and perhaps less 'high impact' than some of the others, I actually thought this might have worked in her favour. She showed a stillness that proved how much she could just work with her words and the song without needing anything glitz and glamour wise to entertain the audience.

Niamh is slowly gaining recognition, but they do seem to be wrapping her in cotton wool. For example, she was left off the acting clip completely. I did watch back through a few audition clips and she is a pretty good actress and I do think she will blow people away when they start singing theatre songs.
For those who still don't get it, we can be sure that ALW will save her if she is ever in danger. She has yet to get a judges comment short of fantastic. I am sure you copuld have heard a pin drop during her performance last night. The audience certainly were captivated. |

She worked in in Good Morning Baltimore.
I'm not sure but I think they maybe meant the acting task last week, not this week's kissing task. Although in saying that, she was only on screen two seconds and no comment was made about her... |
