She was AMAZING in the sing off though Maade me ! Hopefully ALWs anger at the wrong decision will help her get her confidence back....having the biggest man in the industry say you shouldn't be there has to count for something! ”

completely agree with all of the above. niamh was amazing in the sing off it was a very good song for her voice so hopefully we get one more suited for her next week rather than something like valerie again!

but yes she was VERY good

Valerie was a bad song for her and the choreography she was given was silly, but she should never have been in the bottom two. Her performance in the sing off was back to normal though, just stunning.

She's my favourite by far. I love the vulnerability she shows in her performances and the simplicity with which she sings them. I'm just drawn to her eyes! I can't believe she's the baby of the group! I find the older girls too polished for the roll and think they tend to overperform a little.

'Wind Beneath My Wings' has been my favourite performance of hers so far. I think it was Barrie that said she could re-define the role and I totally agree. She's not your typical Nancy, but what's the point of casting someone like everyone else who has played the role before? Dickens' Nancy was 17, it's his story, we should pay attention to him!

So yeah, the more I think about it, the more I want her to win! I've a big fan of the film version of 'Oliver' since I was a kid. Shani Wallis was brilliant in it, I feel very strongly about the character, and to me Niamh's the only one I'd want to pay to watch.

Wow, essay!!! But yeah, she's ace!

Both Niamh and Keisha were brilliant in the sing off. If Niamh can sing like that, she could still win this, but she can't afford any more performances like Valerie.

I think she just had a bad week and will bounce back better than ever next week. I also think she has strength of character to realise that her performance was sub standard, and even said so herself in the results show.

I think she has a wonderful voice but she's not acting. If she wants to go further in this competition she needs to stop relying on her unique look and really work on showing some acting and variety.

Wow, I truly wish Niamh could see this thread. Granted some people on the forum are slagging her, but the comments on here totally make up for it. Keep the nice comments coming!

Just caught up with the results show.

I was sad but not surprised to see Niamh in the bottom two. I am glad that ALW saved her as she had a bad song choice in "Valerie" and it would have been awful if she had gone out when she felt she hadn't done her best.

Anyway, despite all the negativity on the forum, Niamh remains one of my favourites. She is has grown on me over the weeks and I hope she doesn't let this get her down and plays a blinder next week.

Everyone seems to either love her or hate her don't they? Personally she's the only one I don't get bored with watching!!

And I think she *could* play Nancy.

Hi Cat123!

Yes, I do think that Niamh is a bit "marmite"!

I really like the idea of a non-traditional casting for this role and find Niamh a very interesting contestant. However I think that the fact that she is different is going against her with some people. Sadly I think she has a mountain to climb to win this competition but I will enjoy her in IDA for as long she survives and with ALW's backing (which she clearly has) I'm sure we'll see her in something even if she doesn't win this part.

Another article about Niamh in the Belfast Telegraph.

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/en...cle3655149.ece

The local paper is certainly doing it's bit for Niamh although even as a fan I have to admit that their description of her as a "hot favourite" is strange given that she was in the sing-off!

awk that was a lovely article!

although I dont understand why they decided to write about "Nave" being too young to remember the Troubles... that was a bit random lol

R.E Niamh's fanmail... 1 of them was from me! haha

i lik her, she reminds a bit of lily allen, but prettier and slimmer, which is weird, because i dont like lily allen

either niamh or jessie to win for me - cant choose yet

One of the panel said before that she has a lot more to prove than the other girls, and it's true. I hope they give her a kick-ass song next week and she blows everyone away. I was gutted we didn't get to see her 'Bill Sykes' scene (in the mission with the rats). I really think she can play that tough girl, despite her fragility. 'I've Got the Music in Me" showed she doesn't just do sweet and angelic.

Last week with the obvious impediment of singing first and with a badly choreographed song, Niamh was not on top of her game. However, I was still surprised to see her in the bottom two.

I do know that Rachel's campaign is well organised and she gets good votes every week, but it seems that Niamh isn't getting the phone votes she needs to get to the final.

People have to remember to pick up the phone and vote for her every week.

Just wondering, how do you know this?

Oh, and while I'm on Niamh's apprecation thread, I should probably say, I watched her first audition on the website today and it was excellent. She shows far more acting ability there than she ever has on the live shows. I wonder why it hasn't come through?

I think her audition is amazing. And I think she has acted a few of her songs, but I guess it's harder to bring out emotions in a room full of people as opposed ot being in a room with a camera. It's something they all have to learn, I think.

I agree that Niamh's audition tape is very good and definitely shows acting ability.

IMO part of the problem for Niamh (which is also true for the other girls) is the song choices and stage direction that they are getting.

Given that they have purposely put in a number of young and/or untested contestants it is not surprising that they are finding it hard. They need some consistency to develop but for the live shows they are constantly being given new directions, different song styles and contradictory advice.

They are all getting great experience and lots of exposure but it is not easy to be a contestant on this show.

Has anyone got a link to Niamh's first audition? I've not seen it.

I'm not sure that anyone has her very first audition but there are some audition clips on the BBC I's Do Anthing website.

I think that the one most of us are talking about is Niamh's section in the Final 12 Auditions section.

There is this as well. Doesn't she look different! I think she looks great with the fringe now, it's very flattering.

Sorry if I’m behind you ‘regulars’ but I saw IDA a couple of weeks ago and I’ve just checked out some of the clips & found this forum.

Niamh just blew me away with Wind Beneath My Wings. I can’t remember when I last saw a singer who’s so compelling. Have you noticed how the audience go hushed when she is about to sing? I’m not sure she is quite my idea of Nancy, but with that talent and stage presence she could be a serious star. WOW! I’d love to see her in concert.

I was disappointed she was in the sing-off last week, but I suppose ‘Valerie’ wasn’t really her thing. It sound that she has something better this week.

i really hope Niamh pulls of something spectacular tomorrow night, and I have faith in her to do so
