I'm very pleased that Niamh avoided the sing-off. She was clearly worried and looked very shocked when she was told she was through.

ALW would save Niamh over Ashley or Jodie. Her problem is being up against one of the others.

She might be saved over Rachel, depending on Rachel's performance. In saying that tho, Andrew never commented on Rachels screech last night, and last week Rachel was worse than Niamh and was praised

Yep I was thinking about that. Niamh vs Sam - I think Niamh would be out, Niamh vs Rachel, I'm not too sure, Niamh vs Jessie - I think Niamh would be out again.

Hopefully that scenario won't come up and she'll make it all the way to the final!

I agree about Ashley, I did think she'd be gone soon but reading some posts on DS she seems to be gaining a lot of support! If Ashley ever gets in the bottom two she'll be gone, but she seems to be escaping the sing off every week and I don't know if that's because people want to wind up ALW or they're just warming to her?

Probably a bit of both. And also Scotland is voting for her (I know all of them arent, but lots of them are)

Yes, Niamh's parents are very nice in the Nancy Natter video. They seem genuinely upset that Sarah went out. I guess they are affected by the friendship between Niamh and Sarah.

I hope that Niamh isn't too upset by Sarah's departure. She needs to give another good performance this week to stay in and keep alive Sarah's wish in her exit interview that either Niamh or Sam now go on to win.

I think Sarah going will give Niamh more determination. I know shes upset cos they're close, but she knows how talented Sarah is, and how lucky she is to be through, so it will make her work harder!

Does anyone else think that, in a few years time, Naimh would make an amazing Mimi in Rent? I've only ever seen Rosario Dawson's portrayal of the character, but I think it would suit Naimh's voice to a tee Though I'm not sure how comfortable she'd be with the "dance" scene... but maybe when she's older she'll have the confidence to pull it off.

There is a concern about Naimh not being so popular on DS. I wonder how reflective of the public DS is? We know she was in the bottom two once but she had negative comments about diction that night. I suspect the judges comments can be very influential. Ironically REALLY negative comments can produce a reaction vote against the judges but mildly negative (such as these) might have an impact.

IF that is true then Naimh should be ok for a while yet (barring a disasterous performance which I think is unlikely

Niamhs diction was only picked up on because she completely lost the words to the second verse of her song (see the Niamh Valerie thread). Dunno if the panel didn't notice or were being kind about it.

To be honest, she was really bad that night and deserved to be in the bottom two. However this week, I'd put her second behind Jessie.

With regards to the popularity on here, Sarah was the most popular followed by Jodie. So what do we know

That may just be a reaction to losing Sarah with whom she seemed very friendly.

It is probably a good thing to be realistic and from the sounds of things it will not stop her from doing her best.

The short piece of film in a cockney pub with Barbara Windsor showed Niamh's awful attempt at a cockney accent. I cannot see how she will overcome this problem. It was unfair that we didn't get to see Jessie's attempt at it.
I like Niamh's voice very much but could she play Nancy? not sure.

This is a strange post to put in an appreciation thread!

The clip we saw was a piece all the girls were doing in their natural accents. Niamh wasn't attempting a cockney accent.

There was a seperate piece where they had to talk cockney and they focused on Jessie then. We have no idea what Nimah's cockney accent is like as we've never heard her try.

I agree that it would be helpful to hear all the girls but this is RTV and the editor choses what we see.
