Michael John's Dancing

Has anyone noticed how BAD it is in the group numbers. I know it's a singing competitionand I REALLY like Michael (both physically and vocally!) but his dancing really makes me cringe!

I noticed it the first top ten week and can't take my eyes off him now!! Worth watching!!

Will take more notice next time. I don't think his "stage moves" are helping him at any time. Looks too much like Jim Kerr or (obviously) Michael Hutchence. Rather dated. If it is true that he is not allowed a mike stand to emphasise these sweeping arm movements, then that is a mistake in my humble opinion.

I'm not sure how much he's really even trying. It seems more like he's reveling in the cheesiness of the situation. Most people like how adorably bad his dancing has been.

I hate the group numbers. I can't see the point of them; they make everyone even blander and it all ends up looking like an amateur musical.

Why on earth would hot 29 year old guy want to be prancing around like a member of the Mickey Mouse Club? AI producers need to get some perspective if they want to increase the credibility of the show.

Well, the group song is the only tacky feature of the show. Compare with the X factor..

Yes of course, AI is in a different league to that tackfest X Factor. Obviously they need to do something on the results show using the candidates, I just wish they could come up with something that doesn't subject grown up adults to such ridicule. Would singing without dancing be a bit boring..... perhaps.

I might be in the minority but I wasn’t really feeling his ‘we are the champions’ rendition. To pull a song like that u have to be a bit of a showman and as Paula keeps saying he has a quiet confidence. Which really affected that performance. Say what u want about that fool Constantine but when he attempted something similar he really owned the stage.

Heh heh, I've noticed Michael's dancing too. It is pretty bad and makes me squirm. He is the tallest so is easy to spot.

That said, I do like the group songs for the amusement factor. I don't know how it'd work without the dancing - it might be even worse because it wouldn't be fun and cheesy it'd be pseudo-sincere but still cheesy.

It is all a bit High School Musical though .

He's not auditioning for a dance troupe or a boyband so who cares?

I'm not bothered by the Jim Kerr-ish / Michael Hutchence-esque movements. I don't consider them dated any more than when these guys movements were compared to Mick Jagger's.

I do think however that it is more than just a happy coincidence that since the mic stand issue started being mentioned, he has been given a mic stand. He is also being given lighting comparable to that being given to David C. The people behind the scenes in these shows think the audience are still not wise to the tricks they will use to make their chosen contestants look better than the others and the better ones look worse than they are.

Spoiler
I'm really going to miss it Dance, monkey, dance!

What a ridiculous result this week...and really harsh that it was so drawn out so that people thought it wasn't real, like the free-pass they got during IGB last year...

Don't you realise that the crying/sad faces give your "spoiler away"?
