Comparisons with Maria and Nancy girls

I think Samantha is this year's Siobhan

Not sure who this year's Helena is yet but she will surely emerge in weeks 3/4 etc

Who is Connie though ? Is there anyone that is already the stand out winner/finished article ? I don't think so....

I've decided that Tara is the new Malindra (is that her name, the one with turkish origins) and Sarah is the new Belinda

Great idea for a thread, I'm gonna include some joes too.

I think Rachel is the Connie/Lee equivalent, professional with the full package, favourite of the panel, I imagine that consistency will be her hallmark. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't have Lee's astonishing looks or Connie's uncanny physical suitability for the role, so probably won't have the same runaway success

Yes, I agree with Sarah as the new Belinda, but perhaps she's even more like Daniel. Professional, not featured much in auditions, stand out performance in the first week wins a lot of fans. Exceptional voice, but the panel fear she's too 'nice'.

Cleo as the Rob of this series, the rough diamond who may turn out to be a bit too rough

I agree with the Sam and Siobhan comparisons. So far, she seems to be relying on her looks rather than her acting ability to win round the public. That said, 'I love rock and roll' might be the worst song in the whole world to demonstrate acting skills, so I'm prepared to have my mind changed in the next few weeks.

I see similarities between Abi and Jessie, but this has less to do with them as performers and more to do with their very engaging personalities.

I haven't yet identified the new Seamus

Sam is the new Siobhan deffinately! Will get votes based on attractiveness more than on talent.

Tara reminds me of Meliz, both attractive, nice voices, but not strong enough to get very far.

Rachel as Connie/Lee i agree with.

I reckon Francesca may turn into a Helena?

Niamh and Leanne perhaps. Two people who are talented singers, but too young for the part. Niamh looks like she could be Oliver's slightly older sister, hardly someone who is almost a mother figure for Oliver. Not that there aren't other Nancys who are young. And I am sure when she is in the bottom 2, ALW will use the age excuse again.

Same role perhaps in the final two week on week. Helena seems a stronger singer whilst Francesca may be a better straight actress and is less unusual.

See Rachel as Connie

Sarah as Belinda yes - but I am not sure that Sarah has to sound nice if they tell/teach her not to.

Niamh (sp??) as Leanne?

The others I am not sure about as if you look at the auditions videos you would think Tara, Amy and Francesca were near the top of the heap - not least on acting ability into a camera. Give them an inappropriate song, an awful dress and a few bad notes and everything changes. Also wonder what we havn't been shown with some people (Samantha acting notably)

Oddly for a show that says acting is more important this time I can't see the Abi or Aoife. As soon as I do see someone who can connect to me down a camera without me thinking they are acting they either don't make it to the final (Nancy, Liverpool and Newcastle Nancys) or go out in week one (Amy) or get no votes (Francesca) Its now either Jessie or someone showing acting ability we havn't seen yet.

Hmm, I'm thinking Sam as Meliz rather than Siobhan.

I can see this too. Thanks for adding the Josephs into the mix, I do think that the producers go time and time again for the same "moulded" contenders in these shows and we can see a pattern emerging the 3rd time round... Spooky eh

Rachel a bit of a Seamus imo
She is professional, but at times seems cocky about it, and I don't think she's that good

Keisha=Johndeep - good voice bad actor
Tara=Antony perpetually on patience week
Jodie=Craig caberet but will improve and quite popular

I wouldn't be surprised if she was given Patience next week in a determined push to get her out.

Good comparison. I do think she's better than Craig though. Both very likeable individuals

I like the comparison between Jodie and Craig too - because of the cabaret background perhaps.

I can't say I can yet say who the Connie and Lee of this year is, as someone else has mentioned, there is not standout winner as yet whereas I thought Connie and Lee were dead certs (why oh why did I not bet on this ??) from day one !

I don't think she's relying on her looks at all, she's hardly laying about. She's working hard just like the rest of them are doing.

More a figure of speech than anything else I'm not exactly trying to imply that she's dressing up in a short skirt and flirting with the Lord when the rest of them are learning their songs. In the first week I think that she was praised more highly by the panel than her performance merited and the fact that she was the most attractive Nancy in the competition hadn't escaped me or anyone else.

All that said, I actually really like her. She's a contender for me, very reliable vocally, lovely physical presence for the role. Some of the other girls seem capable of bringing more emotional depth to the part, but if she can demonstrate improvement on this level over the next few weeks she'd be in my top two or three.

Flirting with the Lord ooh la la I agree though she is a good all rounder but then again there are a lot of good ones his year. I think the winners clear though, I think Jessie has it in the bag.
