Falling ratings ? Well, if they axe Torchwood, I want Torchwood 1899 with my Victorian ladies. Then what happens to poor Capn Jack ?

yeah, in the Overview section - look

Quote:
“Overview
In 2002, before the revival of Doctor Who, Russell T. Davies began to develop an idea for a science-fiction/crime drama in the style of American dramas like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.[4][5] This idea, originally titled Excalibur, was abandoned until 2005, when BBC Three Controller Stuart Murphy invited Davies to develop a post-watershed science-fiction series for the channel.[5] During the production of the 2005 series of Doctor Who, the word "Torchwood" (an anagram of "Doctor Who") had been used as a "code name" for the series while filming its first few episodes and on the 'rushes' tapes to ensure they were not intercepted.[6] Davies connected the word "Torchwood" to his earlier Excalibur idea and decided to make the series a Doctor Who spin-off.[5] Subsequently, the word "Torchwood" was seeded in Doctor Who episodes and other media which aired in 2005 and 2006. However, in March 2008, due to falling ratings, the BBC announced that the second series would be the last.

The little numbers after pieces of information, when clicked, take you to the original source of that information. Notice that the bit about it being axed doesn't have a number after it, added to the fact this forum didn't already know about it, and I think we can safely say it's not true

It's *definately* not true.

You do know that pages on wikipedia can be edited right? I suspect that is what has happened here.

In other words, Torchwood has NOT been axed, and the OP is quoting a bullsh*t article.

If production of Torchwood is dropped for any reason, I would not believe the news
until the BBC officially announce it as such. Until then, any "news" of Torchwood
being axed for whatever reason should taken with a very large pinch of salt.

According to BARB the ratings are:-

01) Episode 1: 4.22M (#1)
02) Episode 2: 3.78M (#1)
03) Episode 3: 3.51M (#1)
04) Episode 4: 3.28M (#2)
05) Episode 5. 3.79M (#1)
06) Episode 6: 3.22M (#5)
07) Episode 7: 3.31M (#6)
08) Episode 8: 3.08M (#3)
09) Episode 9: 2.76M (#3)

So I think it's a tad unlikely that they won't order a third series.

My favourite episode of American Dad is the one where Stan says:

"If only there was a place where you could make any ridiculous claim, without any evidence at all, and millions of people would accept it as fact!"

Then the next scene shows a Wikipedia homepage.

It's a shame they've dipped a little since then (last week's only got 2.4 million despite being the season finale opener).

Although these ratings don't take into account BBC iPlayer, which a lot of people use, Torchwood is often in the top 5 downloads, it may not be millions but I would bet on a good few hundred thousand downloading it over the course of the week.

No, before the Friday move also.

Do those figures include BBC3 viewing (since that's had the premier for a few weeks) or HD viewing?

I don't know. But that's probably why they're lower. I wish the BBC would scrap with the advance showings and the HD channel version (unless it's shown at least a week after the ep). It just lowers the viewing figures for the BBC 2 showing and makes the show seem less credible.

Why oh why did they move it to Friday? I watched episode 10 on BBC2 last Wednesday and I must have turned over too quickly because I didn't realise episode 11 was gonna be on Friday so I missed it. Then I put it on Wednesday expecting episode 11 but it wasn't on at all, then I found out episode 12 was gonna be on Friday and I was dead confused.

Don't they realise there are a lot of stupid people like me out there?

Don't feel bad. However, I would like to inform you of a thing called the TV guide...

Nope, the ratings listed above do NOT include the BBC Three showing, which has been averaging about 750k (iirc). So the ratings aren't falling - in fact, they're up on year 1.

With ratings that have been amongst the highest of each week on BBC Two, I think you can probably safely say that Torchwood is SO not likely to be cancelled.

Panic over everyone. Yet again, Wikipedia is NOT your friend.
