Ok we have all been there sadly...splitting up with someone is painful..even if you know its for the best...

Did you turn to music?

Looking back over your heartbreaks.. what songs remind you? what songs empowered you?

What are your best break up songs and why?

When I split up with my first boyfriend Craig David's I'm Walking Away was being played everywhere. Now I don't particularly like the song but for some reason when ever I heard it it made me feel better.

Some that spring to mind for me are (I will most likely add to this! ) :

Alanis Morissette: You Oughta Know.. wow that chick is angry! Angry for every girl worldwide!

Scandel : Goodbye To you... Love this song.. kinda rocks you through it.

Kelly Clarkson: Since You Been Gone... Love the shouting part in this one!

Can you still hear it now and not think of the split?

I used to Love Her - Guns n' Roses

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I had to put her, Six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I knew I'd miss her, So I had to keep her
She's buried right in my back yard

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
She bitched so much, She drove me nuts
And now I'm happier this way

Whenever I hear it now (very rarely) it reminds me of that time in my life but as I said it somehow made me feel positive.

Blue Oyster Cult-Don't Fear the Reaper for my first boyfriend and for my last before I got married- Still Got The Blues by Gary Moore still breaks my heart today of a lost love which I should have married but didn't so now Ebenezer Good by the Shamens reminds me of when I met my hubby

Not a particular split - it just reminds me of my major splits- my 'big' loves. I've had some awful break-ups in my time, so at first I get angry.... but yeah there's a song for everything. I try not to listen to Nine Inch Nails afer a break-up (might just tip me over the edge )

I prefer to listen to music that takes me back to happy times. My favourite track for when I'm feeling down is The Killers- Mr. Brightside because it was everywhere during a time when I was probably at my happiest!

There are certain songs that my ex-boyfriend liked that I can't listen to anymore... mainly because I just don't want to waste any more time thinking about him - the pain of the breakup was over ages ago!

In those cases I'd say thing song:
