Why don't we just ban everything and just let everyone sit in little bubbles devoid of any exposure to real life in any form whatsoever?

FFS; some people really need to grow up; it's only telly.

i agree - if you go on one of these shows, surely you put your self up for some form of bullying - whether it be by the other contestants or the press afterwards....

I will reserve judgement until I see the show, if the story is true the question will be how the other contestants and Sir Alan respond to it. Sometimes it is worth showing that which is ugly and unpleasant in order to expose its real nature

I am also aware that editing can at times be misleading

They do put themselves up for a great deal. I agree. Not sure that should include bullying though. I think the point of the protest isn't the effect this might have on the contestant, but the example it shows to others.

Did someone mention 'real life' ? there is none of it on this program.

Many reality shows rely on bullying to makes good tv, ermmmm big brother anyone?

But people are influenced by it. I read somewhere that employment tribunals have seen lots more unfair dismissal claims because bosses think they can treat their employees like Alan Sugar.

I'll reserve judgement. If there is bullying and the person doing the bullying is allowed to remain then clearly that would bring the programme down to the disgusting level of Big Brother - and I'm not just talking about the Shetty/Goody stuff because there was worse bullying than that which occured in the previous series which was never punished and never raised a national outcry (Shabaz and the cross dresser and the Kent woman Suzie to name but 3 who came under spiteful fire of some very nasty characters). Let's hope that The Apprentice doesn't go the same way, because I agree it is watched by impressionable people and can have an effect.

It might be worth remembering that bullying in the workplace is an offence and can result in disciplinary proceedings in any reputable workplace.

I'll reserve judgment as well - wondering whether the anti-bullying charity saw the clip of the show with the girls in the back of the car and Lucinda crying or that in the context of the entire episode?

Maybe it's just more press for the show?

It certainly makes me want to watch it to see what I think...

maybe thats the point??

It would certainly make me tune in if I wasn't watching it already - so, in addition to being bullied (allegedly! ) It's also assured that the audience watching Lucinda's humiliation (possibly) will be even larger!!

Opening up debate about bullying at work is, I think, useful, but it's hard for to debate what hasn't been seen yet.

I am not saying Bullying is right but they should stop banning everything

I mean In the real world (Employment) are they expecting everyone to get on and just be happy go lucky. Its a nice Idea but its does not happen.

Competion is the game- Doesn't necessarilily make it right but its the way of the world.

It reminds me of wanting to ban sports day at school as its too competitive Life is a bloody competion. How do you know you have reached your best when you do not know what your best is

I think what was shown on The Apprentice tonight only reflected what goes on in the real world...

However I do agree that Jenny's behaviour towards Lucinda was disgusting imo. I thought she was completely over the top and it was on the verge of bullying. To leave her in tears was going too far... but that's just my opinion

I think that this is verging on the 'unreality' by trying to campaign to take a show off air that shows the 'reality' of what can happen in real life situations.

This show is a RTV show, but with real elements of it in terms of interaction from its contestants.

To have it banned or taken off air for showing how some people can react in the business world, is ludicrous.

I would have thought it should be praised and heralded as some kind of project title in

'This is how a control freak manager acts when they are out of control'

....and a manual of sorts on how to combat it

she was an awful team leader - but I don't think it was bullying, I just think she has no people skills, she was useless.

But equally Lucinda didn't do herself any favours by missing the meeting, it made her look childish....

Who said anything about banning something?

It's about awareness and *reducing* bullying. The link says: "My suspicion is that they manipulate it. The producers encourage aggressive behaviour and the contestants go along with it because they want their 15 minutes of fame."

You can't argue with that really, they have a point.

Mind, to announce all that before the show is broadcast, is a little strange.

I agree with you. worst thing they ever did for this country was ban sporting competition in schools. Competition is always part of life, every interview you go to you are in competition with the other applicants. Every promotion you go for you have work competitors who want it too. Life is competitive.

Jenny was a tad OTT but Lucinda was a wimp and a sulker and I hate sulkers so she is off my list

Jenny was out of order launching into Lucinda (for no good reason) in the car like that, when clearly they had had a long day, Lucinda was already tired and emotional after being picked on by Jenny all day, so its no surprise she sulked/wimped out IMO. I wouldnt call it bullying though, just one girl having a go at another and to be fair, that other girl stepped in to defend Lucinda.
