There is another one in the cetre which is much better... I see a lot of chinese people eating there which is always a good sign.

I also like Red Hot Buffet. For anyone not familiar they have loads to choose from - chinese, indian, mexican, italian etc

We have a few, One of them is very resturant type, dim lights, tablecloths, bring the menu, choose, take the menu away bring it back after you've finished. I counted 150 different items. It was tres swish, tables nicely far apart you cant hear what the next tables saying. I think that one is £12.50 think its only open at night.

There 2 within doors of eachother, one does indian and chinese buffet, dont like the look of it to be honest.

The other gets packed at lunchtime thats a chinese buffet think thats £6.50 weekday at lunchtimes, £12.50 weekends and evenings. very modern, wood floor, glass effect, very clean, huuuuuge choice, all very hot very fresh, starters bar, mains bar, desserts bar, Its called Cosmo, been there twice now, thing is theres alot of tables very near eachother, so near we always end up chatting to the people next to us.

Whats the etiqutte 'rule' as regards to how much to eat, I normally have a plate of starters and a plate of mains and thats it, no dessert. Plates are fairly small. Dont want people thinking I'm a savage

I just have what I fancy.. Normally end up eating more starters than mains! Might have a bit of ice-cream if any room left

The other half has a bit of a set routine (that is her all over mind you) so she makes sure she gets her 'standards' in and has some other things to fill in.

I don't think there is any set standard, though seeing as this is the West it would normally go by our standards - starter, main dessert (if you can manage it).

Usually the OH has more starters, then main with some dessert. I usually go for soup starter, couple trips for smallish portions (half a plate each time) of main and dessert if I can manage it. Not sure about other places, but we avoid the salad bar altogether.

I once saw a guide on how to get the best value from these buffet's. The key is not to fill your plate too much, it is better to have little and go back for more.

Starters - Choose the seafood and satay options if possible, avoid prawn crackers/bread/chips and soup options as these will just fill you up.
Mains - Seafood and Duck are good value options, never take too much rice/noodles as this will again fill you up.
Desserts - Avoid Ice Creams and the fruit cocktails, instead go for the higher value gateaux and profiteer rolls.

Me and my dad love our Chinese buffets.

Best one I've been too is Eastern Buffet in Dunfermline next to Odeon. Great prices and amazing food. The worst was in London just outside the London Eye. Dodgy food, no puddings, and the drink came out of a bottle, I much prefer tap juice.

I like to eat loads too, usually just from the starter table though; spring rolls, spare ribs, chicken balls, yummm

The Happy Wok in Croydon does buffet for £4.50, then they charge 50p for a glass of tap water! You get what you pay for and the selection is ok I suppose. It's best to go with a group of mates, or when you are just plain hungry.

This is what makes me chuckle about these places, all the rules and regulations they have, you have to eat and leave by a certain time or get charged more, if a kid is over a certain height they charge more for that, they're very funny about giving tap water, which I'm sure by law they've got to provide if asked for, their customer service is as bad as their food, I usually only ever frequent these places to get rid of that 'hangover hunger'. Went to this new one that's just opened in the Metrocentre a few weeks ago, it was just minging, I had chicken and sweetcorn soup to start with, the best way to describe how it tasted, was greasy, it went downhill from there.

However there is a place in Newcastle by the Quayside called the Kublai Khan which I would recommend, it's a Chinese and Mongolian buffet. The food and service there is brilliant, it can be a bit pricey during the week but good value for money and it's always busy.

Yeah we went to one place once and was told they didnt have tap waterWe asked what they washed their dishes with and they said "dishwasher". Didnt believe they had no taps in the kitchen Safe to say that we havent been back there....how do they wash their veg etc?
Im sure they make most of their money on the drinks, which is why they dont like giving out tap water
