Cancelling my contract
Excuse me if I sound stupid, I am new to pay monthly
![]() My o2 18 month contract will be up within a matter of weeks, and I have seen a much better tariff on Orange that would suit me better, so how do I go about cancelling this o2 contract when it's up? Is it just by phone? If so, anyone know what the number is? ![]() I ordered it online originally, not in a store, if that makes a difference? |

Once you have paid off your last month, contact them and say you wan't to leave. If they ask, tell them you have been offered a better deal, usually they will try and match it, or give you a better one. Which might work in your favour

You can contact them by phone (or by eMail). But its better by phone, as you can speak to "retentions" (the team who make all the offers and deals) directly and "haggle" if you like, also then you have verbal confirmation of any new terms etc.
I guess there is nothing wrong with going to Orange. The only thing is they tend to plaster the handsets (remove features etc etc) although you can get rid of them (software flashes - sometimes at a cost), the cosmetic branding stays (Orange LOGO on casing etc). Also, with O2 you will have a slightly larger handset range, Orange seem to be taking a wee while with new handsets. |

Yeah, you bring up some good points that I hadn't really realised or thought of. I really need a proper shop around really, I might have another browse through o2, see what's on offer, I may find something better for me there, I just haven't looked into it much!
Thanks

202 from your handset will get you through to O2 customer service who will be able to transfer you to retentions. Its a free call from your O2 mobile.
O2 has a lot of good optional bundles available at the mo which may not have been available 18 months ago when you started your contract.

You can do it 1Month before the contract ends as you need to give 30days notice anyway and they will sort you out. If they match your tarrif and you want to stay with them chances are they will send your new phone out straight away without having to wait for the old contract to expire. Thats what they didi with me and the O/H's phones anyway.

It will be.
When you call 202 you will either get someone in cardiff or someone in Glasgow. When they transfer you to retentions it will be someone in Preson Brook or Dearne Valley. |
