Kidney beans!
I have dozens of tins of kidney beans multiplying in my cupboards.
What can I do with them, apart from chilli or types of stew? Please help as they're beginning to scare me! ![]() ![]()

Really helpful and I'll be trying that. Although there are lots of chillis and stewy casseroles on there too ![]() I apologise for that outburst- it's just that I've been trying to use up these tins over time and have overdosed on anything that involves chilli, cumin, coriander and kidney beans ![]() ![]()

I've been intending to try this recipe for Spicy Bean Burgers but haven't got round to it yet. They sound good to me, though...
Ingredients 1 carrot, diced small 2 tbsp oil 1 onion, chopped small 1 clove garlic, chopped 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp ground coriander 1 tsp dried mixed herbs ½ tsp paprika ½ tsp chilli powder 4 oz cooked red kidney beans (half a 400g tin, rinsed and drained) 4 oz cooked chick peas (ditto) 1 tbsp cooked sweetcorn 1 level tbsp flour Method Boil the carrot until al dente then drain. Meanwhile, heat 1 tbsp of the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion and garlic for 5 mins until soft and starting to brown. Add the herbs, spices and flour, and cook for 1 min, stirring well (don't let the flour burn). Mash the beans and chick peas with a fork. Mix in the onion mixture, the carrots and sweetcorn and mash some more. Season to taste. Heat the remaining oil, shape the mixture into 4 burgers and fry for 5 to 6 mins on each side til done. Delicious! From: http://www.veganvillage.co.uk/recipes/beanburgers.htm Edit: just noticed the last bit of your post above - sorry!! |

I often do wholewheat pasta and a tomato sauce, with sliced veggie sausages, kidney beans, onions, garlic, peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn, etc. You can add whatever you like, really... it's lovely hot with some garlic bread, or nice to just have cold in the summer...

I love them cold, straight from tin, or in salads.
Often make a pasta salad with mayo, onion, kidney beans, tuna. |
