Michael Jackson's - "Billy Jean"
I am a Michael Jackson fan, however i have been confused by this song since the day i first heard it.
I have asked numerous people and no-one I have evr asked can explain it either. So, these are the lyrics that are distressing me: ...................Billy Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who thinks that I am the one But Billy Jean is not my son....................... OK, what i want to know is " Who is Billy Jean"????? Is Billy Jean the person he's referring to as his girlfriend? OR The name of the child the girl is claimimg to be his? OR The name of both of the above??? I am so confused, and feel the time has come where i have got to find out!!!

"Billy Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims that I am the one But the kid is not my son" Therefore, Billie Jean is a girl (ex-girlfriend in the "song story" maybe) who says that she's had a child to Michael Jackson but he is saying it's not his. I think that's it anyway. What a song though eh? |

I don't know. I have thought that Billie Jean referred to the popular tennis player.
Great song though, much better than most of todays music. |

Thanks richdgrant and lala
Makes much more sense to me now that i have established who is who, that MJ actually says "the kid", and who Billie jean is. Yes, a great MJ song from his early stuff. |

Great yes, but certainly not early. He did tons of stuff before it. Infact he's probably done more before than after Billie Jean.

Even in the holiday party places Billie Jean is still played. I was in Kavos this years and one of my friends was in Ibiza and in both places Michael Jackson's music was being played in-between all the new stuff. Can't remember hearing any other older music played.
Michael Jackson is brilliant. Got all his albums (from the early Jackson 5 to the last album he did - Invincible). I'm into loads of different types of music: r&b, pop, dance, rock (such as Led Zeppelin and also Pink Floyd (not sure which category they'd come under)) but Michael Jackson's music is by far my favourite. The amount of times I've listened to Smooth Criminal is unbelievable.

Jackson is truly one of the greatest artists ever. even at 12, i realise that. Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller and Smooth Criminal are in my favourite songs ever.

Bushwacka (of Layo and Bushwacka) did a good remix of Billie Jean last year. It was played on the Essential Mix by Pete Tong in Ibiza as I recall.
When I saw the video for the first time it was cool. With the tiles lighting up under his feet when he walked. No matter how weird the guy has become there was a long period when he ruled the pop world. When Bad was given its world premiere on Channel 4 everyone went on about it at school. Not as good a video as the John Landis directed promo for Thriller though. |

Don't know about anybody else but I'd really like to see Jacko do a dance routine with a woman.
I thought we were going to get this in the Rock My World video when he actually gets together with the woman in that but all dancing is seperate. I really wish he would, a bit like the Prince "Kiss" video when he does a routine with a woman. Fantastic! |

Yeah, i also got that impression, and realised what he meant. What I was confused about was WHO was Billie Jean - the girlfriend or the baby. I now know thanks to richdgrant and Lala. Thanks everyone else for the input too. Yes, the good old times when Jacko ruled the pop world!!! |

Didnt he do a routine with Janet Jackson - on a space station set ? And I recall him writhing around with Naiomi Cambell on another video, set in a dry Med / Mexican landscape - but then its so long ago |

Perhaps I'm not making myself clear. I'm referring to a dance routine where they could be considered to to be dancing as a pair say like Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers (although in a modern style obviously).
Certainly I don't consider the two suggestions anywhere near what I'm looking for. Needs to be a lot more hands on closer stuff and both partners contributing equally (will if anyone can contribute equally on a level with Jacko at his best that is!). |

Im sure that whats gone on behind closed doors at the Jackson residence is kept from our eyes by the unseen hands that keep his profile bouyant in the mainstream of the music/dance profession . *grabs crotch one last time and leaves, pulling plastic trilby forward and down in the last few frames, right foot poised over an backlit excuse for a paving slab* |
