Here you go -

The Coronation Street set was originally indoors (even exterior sets) and was only built at 3/4 size. this meant that actors had to purposefully walk down the street slowly so the viewers couldnt see that the houses were too small. The proper set for Corrie was built in 1977.

The EE set was especially made but will be relocated soon as the set is said to look 'shabby' on HD. Possibilities include Pinewood Studios.

Emmerdale was the first british soap to have an outside set, all of the locations have changed over the years apart from tate Hall. The village was built as a set in the early 90's.

im not sure about Hollyoaks.

I use to think Albert Square/Walford was a real place, and when the EE cast weren't filming real people lived there

Apparantly it was supposed to be set in a real Square, but plans were scrapped at the last minute.

It's based on a real square in East London and there is somwhere called 'Albert Square' it has a pub on the corner and a park or a green in the middle but thats all and the outskirts are all residential, no cafe, laundrette, arches community centre or anything.

I live not too far from Watford.

If you wanna go EE star hunting The Harlequins centre is packed with them on a typical Saturday, I've seen Kara Tointon, Lacey, Charlie Clements and Tiana Benjamin together at the cinema before and Shabnam Masood in Debenhams. Lacey Turner was attacked not to far from there as well.

Not technically true- Emmerdale didn't have their own outdoor set until 1997. From 1972-75 they filmed in Arncliffe in North Yorkshire, from 1976-97 they filmed in Esholt near Bradford. It's only since then they've had their own purpose bult outdoor set.

Pretty sure the Hollyoaks set were built especially. Seem to remember on T4 years and years ago when they were on the set them saying that the then restaurant/drive and buy etc were only one story and the second storeys were imagined and that they were going to be building second stroreys onto them which they did!

Is the EE set really moving? Only Babs Windsor made it sound as though it wasn't confirmed on Paul O'Grady.

At present, I think it's more a case of speculation & rumour.

If Emmerdale can pass the HD test then EE should have been able to as I think they're made out of similar materials.

The EE ones are knocking on 30 years old (they were made long before EE started) and apparently there really shabby. An interesting theory I heard was that if the BB set moved the Eastenders set would be able to expand in to three more studios at Elstree so there were some negotitations between C4 and the BBC but it looks as if BB will be staying there.

Indeed, many a monday night lacy turner is getting her grove on at Destiny nightclub. She comes across as a really nice girl when your out but she gets a lot of shit from girls there because of who she is.

The Harlequin centre is a celeb haunt

OMG, You go Destiny as well. I used to go to the under 16s nights before I left home. Whenever I go Harlequins a pen and paper is a must! thats why I dont want the set move to Pinewood.

we used to serve all the celebs when i worked in the Harlequin centre. i remember seeing Brad pitt at the mcdonalds during lunch once when he was training for Snatch.

Back on topic.

How can the move of the BB set affect Eastenders when they are on different sides of the road??

Maybe tell Lacy Turner that she needs to learn to act a bit better

The square was built in 1984. The year before EE began.

Yes its not the same one from the 'Honey Lane' market street set from the 1960s that was in the same place. Although it did have the pub and houses, but didn't look anything like the EE later buildings.

it's a bit of a technicality. Emmerdale Farm was the first British soap opera to have a permanant crew and cameras dedicated to outside filming in every episode. Although most of the outside sets wernt purpose built for the show, many were only used by the Emmerdale team so became permanant sets by defalult.
