Learning to Dance
TKDFan
02-04-2008
Hi All, hope this is the right place to post

I've decided that I'd like to try to learn to dance, for the exercise (OK, and to meet women lol).

I was thinking about something like Salsa which I believe is quite lively and (hopefully!) not too hard to pick up.

Since I've never danced before (and I'm not the most confident of people), what is everyone's advice?

Hi there TDKFan,

Sounds like a great idea.

You could also check out this thread:

...people who started dance classes - they probably have the best advice.

I haven’t tried Salsa, but really enjoyed ballroom classes - the pace is slow at the beginning and it is easy to keep up.

In my experience there are always more women than men - so it should be no problem to find a dance partner.

Good luck!

Hello TKDFan

I've done salsa, merengue and ballroom dancing and there are always more women that men so I'm sure you'll be very welcome - it is good exercise and the salsa music is great.

Good luck

I went to ballroom/ latin dancing ater plucking up the courage for about 30 years!! Dragged my very reluctant husband along and we both loved every minute.
With this typpe of class you cover every type of dance, so might be more worthwhile than just one like the salsa.
It is such food, every one is as bad as each other, and you have such a good laugh. Its amazing that after one lesson you can put some steps together for a dance. All your friends will be impressed at the next party or company do.
Its also great exercise, i felt just as tired going to the lesson as an hour in the gym.
Go along and enjoy!
