When I have the TV set in this mode, the 4:3 aspect channels do not produce the 'bars' as they should. This happens on the internal FV receiver as well as a PVR on Ext 1.

Is this a fault or do I not have the TV set-up right?

And you're sure that the channels you have tuned to are only 4:3 transmissions? Check something like Sky Sports News - that is always in 4:3 except when adverts are showing.

Yes. But I have sorted it. I've set screen size to 4:3 in the menu. Seems odd, but the Auto Wide mode over-rides it for WS.

Setting to 4:3 is the standard for most TVs I've used, Auto Wide and such like usually play around with a 4:3 picture in unmentionable ways to fill the screen.

Yeah, strangely, I'd have expected to set Screen Size to 16:9, but this does exactly what I explained in that it displayed 4:3 pictures in FATVision tm

I think the logic is that if you set the TV to 4:3 then everybody would want the picture expanded to 16:9 for widescreen whereas if set to 16:9 some people would want fattyvision for 4:3 sources.

What hope is there for the world when we accept FATVision?
