Hi All

I love Scotch Pies. Years ago I could get a hot one from Greggs in Wolverhampton. I moved to London and became dreprived of the things. Then I discovered that I could buy them frozen from Iceland. Brilliant. Then they stopped selling them.

Does anyone know where in the south of London I can buy
these delicacies. I've googled for recipes, but would love to have something ready to bake or ready to eat.

Do you have Morrisons down there? The local branch here in the depths of England sells them.

Thanks Cruachan. Morrisons appear to have deserted most of London, but I'll have a google.

I have seen them in Morrisons too and also Asda. Oh how I want pie and beans now

I used to rely on Iceland for supplies of Scotch Pies during those good old days when BB had me almost welded to the sofa after work. Pie, beans, and oven chips if I had long enough time during the ads to get them into the oven.

Always a problem with processed meat, I won't buy any pies or sausages except from my local butcher or bakers who's reputation would be destroyed if they got bad press over dodgy products, the Gordon Bakery in Aberdeen make the best Scotch Pies I've ever had and I've had a few in my time.

I kid you not...I haven't eaten one since.

I knew they were eyelashes as they were thick, black, eyelash length hairs and they really couldn't have been anything else.

It rates right up there along with biting into a Bernard Matthews turkey sausage and pulling out a feather - never eaten one of those since 1984 (or thereabouts) either!

I had a scotch pie a couple of weeks back - it was delicious - took me back to being a teenager and spending my dinner money on a scotch pie and sausage roll from the shop across the road from school, instead of school dinners. Sorry Mum !!

Are they a bit like playing Russian roulette with one chamber loaded with E-coli?

.... that are about as Cornish as Chicken Vindaloo!

Them things have never been 100 miles near Cornwall, and are nothing like the real McCoy!

http://www.propercornish.co.uk/

The above are examples of real Cornish Pasties....

Thanks indianwells. I went to that website. Give me a meat pie any day over a bar of chocolate, not sure about the lasagne pie though. And at those plus p&p prices being charged, I am going to attempt to make my own.

That there is a classic example of denial. The mind trying to protect itself from the grim reality.

Here's hoping they wer eyelashes and fake ones at that.

I used to get Scotch pies at Budgens..........

Then they closed and sainsbury moved in..........

You can't seem to get decent pies any more.........

The pie I miss most since moving to London is a good old Lancashire chip shop potato pie.........

*wells up*...........
