Can't help - but I used to love them as a greasy post-pub treat.
Haven't had one for years - and haven't been in an Iceland for years either. The very memory of them is making me feel lardy. |

You can still get them in Iceland, unless they've stopped in the last month or so.

The cheese in burgers is inside the burger while the cheese on burgers is on top of the burger.

Surprise Mini Burgers
325g/11oz lean minced beef 1 onion 1 stick of celery 1 clove garlic or 1/2 tsp garlic granules flour for dusting 8 tsp tomato ketchup 50g/2oz Cheddar cheese 8 mini burger buns or small bread rolls 1. Put the mince into a large bowl. Peel the onion and and celery and cop finely (i grated my onion more recently for burgers and it was better) Crush the garlic, then add all three to the mince. 2. Stir the burger mixture together with your hands until well combined. 3. Lightly flour a work surfact. Turn out the burger mixture and divide into eight flattend patties 4. Spoon a teaspoon of ketchup onto the centre of each patty. Chop the cheese into eight cubes and place over the ketchup. Using wet hands, gently bring the met mixture up around the cheese and ketchup to enclose completely. Shape into burgers 5. Pre-heat the grill to medium. Grill the burgers for 15-20 minutes, turning to brown all over. Serve in the burger buns or bread rolls. Enjoy !!! (obvioulsy omit the ketchup if not liked) |

Do they still make Ketchips? Chips that had ketchup inside them.... I'm pretty sure that was an Iceland product too.

(obvioulsy omit the ketchup if not liked) I made similar burgers last week, was feeling a bit extravagant and used M&S cornish cruncher cheddar with balsamic onions cheese as the filling.....they were delish. Have also tried lancashire, wenslydale and stilton, all equally lovely

I remember these burgers, they used to them with bacon in too if I recall. I used to love them, as unhealthy as you can get but still yummy.

Sainsburys are selling burgers with cheese and onion in them, in fact I bought a pack yesterday. Not tried them yet though, so I have no idea if they are any good.
In the same range, they are doing 'sweet and smokey' burgers, which smell like chinese spare ribs when you open the pack - we had them last week, and they are really good. |

Just to add to the 3 yr old topic....
I've made stuffed burgers several times. They can be called stuffed burgers, inside-out burgers or a classic in the US is a Jucy Lucy. |

I've been making my own burgers for years (I hate onions and could never find decent ones without them in) and i've been putting cheese in my mixture for almost the same amount of time. I use grated cheese though for an all over cheesy taste rather than a gooey middle.
Looking at the above recipe though mine seems rather small as I only use three things for the burgers themselves, hmm let's see.. 2lb mince 1 large or two medium eggs Cheese Put the mince in a large mixing bowl, add the egg/eggs and then add as much or as little grated cheese as you want. Then get your hands right in there squishing and mixing. Next thing to do is to get a circular biscuit cutter (I have a white plastic 98mm one) and you can use that to get a near perfect shaped burger. Then cook or freeze for later. The burger tastes quite nice, the egg really helps keep the mince together and the cheesy bits just add extra yum. Not to mention they're cheap to make and don't take alot of time. |
