My partner can get an upgrade in May. Her current contract is 150 mins & 750 texts @£25 per month. And O2 have a good signal in our area.

For the same money on Three, she can get 500 mins + unlimited texts + free voice mail - but she doesn't like any of their phones. Compared to other providers O2's current online £25 plan is p*ss poor.

She likes the U9 on O2 but what can she negotiate from them? Ideally she needs more minutes on her phone and either 1000 or unlimited texts & free voice mail. Whereas the current £25 online plan is 200 mins + 400 texts

Anyone upgraded recently and what can she try to negotiate from them for the same amount per month without changing provider? Or any other suggestions?

Tell them that due to their poor range of phones you are considering switching to another operator. Especially if you can find a deal more suitable to you with another company and a handset like the one you want!!

Use the price and what you get for your money from 3 as your negotiating tool. Don't mention that you don't like 3's handsets. Look on o2's website and see what handsets they have that you like - then say what deal you have seen at 3, and were wondering if o2 could match it, as you would prefer to stay with them - see what they offer. Tell them what you want to spend per month (less than what you are currently) and what minutes and texts you need per month (more than you have currently.) Write the details down, thank them, and say you need to go away and think about what they have offered. Then come back here and let us know what they said in case you can wangle a better deal!

Thanks. She can do this with all the networks because all their plans @ £25 are offering much more than O2's. She tried for an early upgrade i.e. two weeks at the moment and they told her to phone back in two weeks.

For the sake of two weeks you would have thought it good business sense to give her a new contract. She would have taken another 18 month contract and now she is seriously considering another provider after I told her she could keep her number.

I have the N95 for £25 a month plus 600 mins and 1000 texts per months on 18 month contract which I negotiated in December. I pay separately for add on unlimited internet use £7.50 but I can cancel that at any time. Plus free with the phone was a £30 perfume voucher which I didn't know about until I opened the box.

You're already upgrading early - you can upgrade from your 17th month in an 18th month contract.

Make sure when you call through you use the option for 'cancelling' as this will get you through to the retentions department who are the guys that can make the offers to 'save' you. Upgrades will normally just give you the basic tariff and handsets that are available without offering any deals.

When you have been offered something you only have 7 days to decide if you want to take that offer up, if you dont contact O2 before then the next time you call you will be offered a different deal.
