Goodmans F28WTF Service Mode
John
22-07-2003
Does anyone know how to enter service mode on a Goodmans F28WTF Widescreen TV?

Thanks!

What do you mean by "service mode"? What do you want to be able to do? I happen to have the same model, so I'll help if I can

(Silly geeky humour aside: it kind of amuses my that the TV model ends in "WTF". That was precisely my partner's reaction, too, when I brought it home. Funny, that.)

I need to do a few minor screen geometry adjustments, those settings are in a so called engineers menu but it's been mentioned to me as service mode

I think your only option is to use the "User 1" and "User 2" screen modes, though they don't give you a great deal of control. I haven't been able to find any menus that aren't in the manual, though it's possible that I haven't been trying hard enough

Well Goodmans won't tell me so I have an engineer coming out on Friday to fix the pi$$ poor screen geometry. I'll just get him to tell me, or watch exactly what he does....

Did you get the screen geometry sorted in the end? (Was there some menu that isn't in the manual?)

mithy73, I need a big favour. He could not sort my probs so i'm having the set exchanged.

But first, how to enter service mode (and no he would not tell me so I just had to sneak a peak)

Open front panel with TV on and grab the remote. Press the M button on the front panel and at the same time hit the power button on the remote.

AG X (X = the setting) will show on screen.

You can scroll through the MANY settings by using the Program Up button on the remote.

DO NOT use the volume up or down button as this will change settings (Def don't use vol up and down on INIT TWIST 02.0)

Press TV to exit service mode

Now for the favour I need.

Would you enter service mode using the above, and scroll though all the settins using the program up botton on the remote and write the settings down for me for each and every entry exactly as it shows on screen?

I need to return the TV in the state the engineer left it (I messed with a few settings and its messed one or two things up they may notice and yes i know i'm a dumbass for not writting it down first )

£20 sound ok for you to do the above? PayPal or cash by post. You won't do anything to harm the TV as long as you just scroll though the settings and keep away form using the vol buttons to change anything.

Thanks!

Thank you so much!

No prob

There are a whole bunch of geometry settings in there (HSH, HPA, HBO, VS, VA, VSH, SC, EW, PW, CPU, CPL, TC) - some of which appear to have multiple effects, so it's not exactly easy to get the geometry right. (This TV is a bit off in 4:3 mode, so I might have to play a bit once I've worked out what all the settings actually do.)
