WELL DONE MORRISONS
Im a proud shopper at morrisons, always have and always will be

Article

Morrisons is top for quality products, customer service, and values........

Morrisons have this week been given a national accolade for the quality of their products, their excellent customer service and strong company values. The stores beat off competition from all of the other retailers to win the converted Retail of the Year 2008 award at a glittering ceremony in London.

This is the second time the supermarket has won the national award. This year’s judges commended the supermarket which has more fresh products made by hand in-store than any other retailer and probably more craft skilled staff per customer than any other retailer.

Tim Danaher, Editor of Retail Week said, "To be named Retailer of the Year capped an exceptional year for Morrisons and shows just what a strong recovery the company has made. Our judges are exceptionally tough and are all highly experienced retailers, and Morrisons' success is a remarkable tribute to the efforts of everyone in the business and the hard work they have put in over the past year to deliver such an outstanding performance."

At the Retail Week Ceremony Sir Ken Morrison was also honoured receiving the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Retail. Retail week described the former supermarket chairman as, ‘Probably the best grocer of his generation.’

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!

That's the other way around here, Asda is full of charvas, and Morrisons isn't, hardly ever see them in there.

As for 'almost dead' people, that goes to Aldi here, full of them.

I'll remember to look out for you, when I am buying my sushi rice, selections of freshly sliced cooked meats and fish. Are you sure your going to Morrisons and not Asda, as you seem to have described our local Asda perfectly, though you missed out the rude, ignorant and totally unobservant customers in Asda as well. That is not forgetting the staff in Asda are perhaps on a par with the McDonalds staff, or that on two occasions items have fallen from shelves onto my OH; one of which was actually 2 flat pack wooden bedside tables. They both fell from a shelf about shoulder height, which I am sure breaches some H&S rule.

Anyway this is about how good Morrisons are, so well done Morrisons; about time that American owned shite hole Asda didn't win it.

Quite wise - I used to live in Holloway Road, there is a Morrisons and a Waitrose; I just thought the Morrisons looked a bit grubby. Mind you I think Sainsburys is rubbish too. *snoot*

I'd quite like to try the new Morrison's that's opened up here, but I'm boycotting after the mess they made with the roads - thanks to the new shop we have stupidly long traffic jams on one of the main routes through town and the less said about the 'accident waiting to happen' junction and lights, the better. I was surprised to find my neighbour is boycotting too, for the same reasons!

I cant believe this, it might have won this accolade in the 1960s but waiting an eternity to be served in the days of self service check outs will not help them in the future.

Whats up with the uniforms? They would probably win worst company uniform 2008!

They seriously need to sort out the quality of their fruit and veg before they can be retailer of the year.

But yeah, where's the source for this?

If its not awarded by The Grocer it's pretty much a throw away award anyway. The Grocer is like a retailers bible.

Thats funny the same thing happened when our new Morrisons opened. It wasn't helped that there was a B&Q opened right opposite, with only one road leading to both car parks of a large roundabout. The roundabout itself was confusing at times, but it got better as people learned which lanes they needed and which set of lights they need to pay attention to; but as you said there were a few shunts before all this happened.

Indeed, their vegs/fruits are quite terrible compared to other places, even Asda has nicer vegs/fruits.

As for Waitrose, I don't know one near me but have always wanted to have a look in one.

Morrisons are, by far, the best of the supermarkets around here, although there are no Waitrose's within 60 miles.

My local one is devoid of chavs, and a far better than chav cities that are Tescos and Asda, or the poor chavs choice of Lidl or Aldi.

More power to Morrisons I'll say. Also, their cafe is great value, and miles better than Tesco's or Asda pathetic offerings.

I am also pleased that they stick to food, and don't try to sell me junk bin TV's, or market quality clothes.

I have never had a problem with their fruit & veg, I regularly buy melon, grapes for my OH lunches each week. Most times I can make anything I have bought from Morrisons last a whole week, whereas other places last a couple of days at most (under the same conditions).

I'm fairly cynical about these awards ...
Retailer of the Year 2008 when it's only April ?

I'm sure all the big chains will announce similar awards by the end of the year

I don't find Morrisons all that bad, although their fresh fruit and veg does seem to have an incredibly short shelf life...
