Rock Rivals is woefully awful, one of the worst programmes i think to grace our screens - they may as well have stuck on repeats of X Factor, it is terrible, I can't beleive they axed Bad Girls to make way for this - and Bad Girls was goin down too but RR I found out on another thread only manages 2.2million viewers

Shame they don't close down Shed Productions, who are responsible for all this rubbish.

Should point out that Shed now make Who Do You Think You Are? since taking over Wall to Wall productions along with several other independents.

As Vodka said, Bad Girls wasn't axed specifically to make room for Rock Rivals, but it was axed to make room for 'new programming' - none of which has been very inspiring so far.

I agree, though, that RR is a few notches down from even the poorest era of BG.

I miss Bad Girls.

And Shed Productions are great, I've found myself addicted to Waterloo Road now, to feed my Bad Girls withdrawal.

I didn't get into RR as much as I thought I would, I must admit.

It is weird why they would axe BG when it was pulling in 5 million viewers.

There was a leaked memo from ITV at the time suggesting the head honcho hated it. A couple of months later it was officially cancelled!

Shed made a series called Bombshell, which was never shown, surely it could be shown on some channel?

Those viewing figures were relatively poor compared to what BG had been used to but it was the highest rated programme in the dreaded summer slot. ITV would kill for those ratings any time of year now.

Im sure I read at the time they were axing it to make way for a brand new show called Rock Rivals because I remember waiting for it to come on last year and it didnt show - but yeah I agree i dont think they axed it specifically for this show but think it was partly the reason

I like Rock Rivals - but if you closed Shed then there would be no more Waterloo Road and that is one of the best drama's on tv!! Fantastic it is, and the last ep in series 3 attracted 6 million so i dont think its going anywhere!!

Rock Rivals has to be the biggest pile of dross broadcast on British TV for some time.

This was partly the reason-correct. Also it did heavily influence the decision of the axing of Bad Girls, as Shed wanted to concentrate on Rock Rivals as I believe they struck a deal with ITV in the end.

Just happened to be made around the time of the Iraq war and they wouldn't show it. I believe it was shown in somewhere like New Zealand though!

It averaged 4.7 million in the final series (official figures) and episodes which surpassed the 5 million mark were the first episode, the repecussions of Natalie's death and the last ever episode which knotched up 5.13 million viewers.

These were excellent viewers for a summer in which ALL ratings were low and Bad Girls was only slightly down on the previous series average (5.1 million).

Correct, for the summer it is great ratings and ITV dont even charge their advertisers much during june.july.august.

OK didn't realise commissioning RR was part of the BG cancellation.

I think axing BG was a mistake - how many other dramas apart from the soaps does ITV have where it gets a guaranteed 4 million viewers in the summer these days?

2 million (8% share)

It came fourth in the terrestrial ratings at 9pm (only beating BBC2), and was also beaten by Sky Sports 2 while the football was on.

I don't watch it so I can't comment on the quality of it... but I don't think we'll be seeing a second series, somehow.
