Net MD's

Have a search to see if this question has been asked before and can not find anything if it has then can someone point me in the right direction.

I record alot of music and programmes for a local (hospital) radio station i work for onto MD and I am looking to get this information onto my PC. I have an older computer so which does not have a good sound card and creates really crap recordings if you use the mic in.

The question is will i be able to record onto a MD from a stand alone recorder and then using a net MD player transferre this onto my PC at home (do they work like a removable hard drive) thanks in advance.

nope the copyright system in NET MD's dont allow discs to be uploaded when the recording was made on another machine other than the one that your copying from (or checking in). That is my setback on getting one cos i have recordings made from 3 different recorders and i wont be able to copy them to my pc digitally.

Thats annoying. Even more so when it is you own work you are recording. oh well these goes any plan to bye a NET MD then!!!

Either that or get a new PC with a desent sound card!

if your MD has an optical out then i suggest investing in a good soundcard with and optical in then you are guarenteed good recordings. I record MD to the pc by connecting my Hi-fi record outs to my line in with good cables and sounds great though very time consuming.

The professional Net MD machines allow for upload to a PC. They also disable the DCMS copycode system.

SCMS? (Serial Copy Management System).

There's a workaround solution to this also, although it is time consuming and can only be done with certain machines.
