With regards to my previous topic on this subject , you do not have to be homophobic to agree with Cameron.

I am not saying I either agree or disagree with what he says

Lets put it in a realistic way.....if Cameron met a gay person, he would be friendly with them etc.............But he will be against their whole lifestyle because of WHAT the bible says!

So he is not strictly homophobic.............But because of what a book tells him to believe.............He would feel he was doing something wrong!

Does that makes sense?

Actually lala I suspect you are completely right. A wisdom that belies your years.

He's entitled to his opinion, and I haven't said otherwise. I've just highlighted why it was homophobic, which is what this thread was set up to dicuss. What is your point? ”

If he was homophobic then so what, its not a reason not to vote for him.

As a devout Christian he has perhaps been taught that it is wrong.

Perhaps one of our Christian posters may be able to advise us if it does actually say in the bible that same sex relationships are wrong.

Why the hell do gays want to get married anyway? Marriage is just an out-dated reactionary institution, not sure why they want to take part in that? ”

i think a lot of it has more to do with the rights that go along with marriage

Such as the visitation rights to visit your partner in hospital, rights on property and not being made homelss if your partner dies etc etc. all the basic human rights that go with that.

Give the guy a break, he was forced to give his opinion as part of the task and he has given it, that is all it is, an opinion. Everyone has beliefs and there will always be people disagreeing, that's what an opinion is all about. And remember it is only a game show at the end of the day. Take it all with a pinch of salt.
He is a fairly straightforward bloke who should not be criticised for being less cosmopolitan than others in his attitide.

Also, fair play to him for standing up to Jon and refusing to rise to Jon's provocation the other night

Certainly in same sex couples I believe the law now gives many of the rights of married couples to those who live together without being married.

Give the guy a break,

No. It's BB. He's in it for our scrutiny.

he was forced to give his opinion as part of the task and he has given it, that is all it is, an opinion.

Agreed. But still for our scrutiny. Who wins? You Decide. etc. etc.

There are some who criticise, some who agree, some who defend, some who condemn. etc. This is a discussion forum on BB. (Breaks into song: "It's our forum and we'll discuss if we want to, discuss if we want to.")

Also, fair play to him for standing up to Jon and refusing to rise to Jon's provocation the other night
”

It isn't fair play at all. He didn't stand up to Jon. He went belly up gibbering in his own unopiniated mess and had to be rescued by Mr Opinion himself - Scott.

Or was I watching a different show last night?

Not yet it doesn't. The Givernement is only considering legislation which the Lords will oppose.

it's a very good point Lulu - they do of course have the right to marry and that is the choice - gay couples do not have that choice.

Personally though I think that all rights should be extended to all couples who wish to have some kind of civil ceremony.
”

Agreed GG. What gets me is that half these people who are the ones who decide which law 'goes through' don't have a clue about life in the 'real world'
