I have a SKY HD box that is connected to a Panasonic 42" plasma screen. I am having sound advance problems and want to purchase a 5.1 surround system with optical input so that i can delay the sound using the settings.

Can anyone recommend a good system, that works well and is not too expensive?

I currently have a Phillips DVD 5.1 surround setup with no optical inputs.

Thanks in advance

Does the Phillips have any form of digital input? If it has a phono socket on the back for digital audio then you may not need to change it.

Maplin, amongst others, do little converter boxes that take optical digital in and output on a phono socket. Using one of these you could hook up the Sky box to your existing system.

Take a look at the Sony HT-DDW890 if you dont need the DVD,

Its around £220 and well worth it.

This has 2 optical inputs and 1 Coax as well.

I have solved the problem now thanks to someone on another thread, it seems its an audio delay due to the time it takes to process the picture compared to the sound, so i am going to get an Amp and put everything through that instead getting rid of my current cinema system.

I am thinking of either this

or this

im going for the 2nd one i feel, cos it apparently handels HD and Blu-Ray better

Any advice guys. What do you think?
