Inspirational songs should throw up some really interesting song choices. I'll have a check back around Monday to see if they've been posted.

I can't think of one for everyone (it's Jason and David A I'm struggling with this week) but here are my ideas

Brooke - Walking On Sunshine (Katrina & The Waves) or Unwritten (Natasha Bedingfield
Carly - You Learn (Alanis Morissette)
DC - I Can See Clearly Now (Johnny Nash - have I got that right?) - Have seen this suggested for Jason, but i'ts the blind national anthem. I'm partially blind, and David C's my favourite
Kristy-Lee - Toy Soldiers (Martika) - hope there's no elimination this year for IGB either. I'm getting worried about Kristy (my also much loved 2nd favourite!
Michael - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (U2) - my dad's pick, but a good one
Syesha - God Is A DJ (Pink) or Survivor (Destiny's Child)

Doubt we'll hear these though, it was very ballady last year, not that I mind the odd ballad. It'd be cool to see more mordern songs used too. I'll keep thinking for DA and Jason!

As for Mariah week, should be fun - wonder if they'll have to tackle her songs, or if it'll just be a 90s, etc theme? Not sure which would have better results actually, lol!

very interesting Faria.
I agree with your dads choice for Michael
Lets face It David Cook could sing the phone book ( SIMON SAYS)
Not sure about Toy soldiers but she ( Kirsty) will sing something patriotic to keep her in.
As long as they don't have to all sing Maria's songs then I think It will be bearable

As it's Idol Gives Back week, I doubt any of the contestants will go next week... does anyone else think this? None of the contestants went last year during Idol Gives Back week, I think the votes got carried on to the week after... or am I completely wrong?

I think there is an elimination next week. AI is on over 3 nights over there. The first night (Tuesday) is the Top 8, the second night is Idol Gives Back and then Thursday is the results show. Here we have a one hour show on Thursday and then on Friday its on for 3 hours. I presume the last hour will be the results show so its going to be a late one

Yes, this is what I read on the Idol boards.

Some guesses from me....

David A - You Raise me Up - which I actually hope he doesn't do, he song's been done to death, but I could see it.

Micheal - Like the U2 idea

Carly - Beautiful

Kirsty Lee - can see her doing Amazing Grace again

Syesha - Another vote for Survivor from me

Jason - bit stuck here, I've gone from really liking him to being completely unable to remember what his voice is like

Brooke - ummm, Big Yellow Taxi maybe, but is that inspirational?

David C, and this is nicked off another Idol site, but I completely agree and find it very possible that he would kill me dead with it, but Everybody Hurts REM

I absolutely love the REM suggestion for Cook. That would be fantastic!

I think I would die if Michael did U2, as I love that song so much and I think he would do it justice.

Can't wait for next week. Hopefully the choices are as good as some of these suggestions.

Wind Beneath My Wings for Jason??

Agree with most choices. But I am not sure some of my picks are inspirational-here we go;

David A - Elvis Presley-Never walk alone

Michael - Bob Marley-No woman no cry/ I would have also chosen U2 for him.

Carly - Christina Aguilera-Beautiful, Celine Dion, My heart would go on.

Kirsty Lee - Stand by your man-Tammy Wynette

Syesha - Falling -Alicia Keys, Stop, look, listen-Diana Ross, Roberta Flack-Killing me softly (Survivor-could be a metaphor for her-but am not sure)

Jason - Bob Dylan-Blowing in the wind/Eagles-Take it easy

Brooke -You've got a friend

David C-David Bowie-Young American/Golden years, U2-Born to run

I wasn't too sure about Toy Soliders for Kristy either, but I remember it being suggested for Kady on 80s night, it's quite an unusual choice and would fit the theme but there must be a better choice out there. I wonder if people would vote for patriotism from her again? I'd vote for her along with DC but that wouldn't even change if one of them sang Chasing Cars (which I hate!)

Some good suggestions for David but he MUST sing the blind anthem for me! Unless Kristy can? It'd be different for her but might just work.

I think Fallin's been banned so Syesha wouldn't be able to use it although she would sing it well. Glad Survivor and U2 songs are priving to be popular choices here!

Not sure I'd want to hear Beautiful. You Raise Me Up or My Heart Will Go On Again. Same goes for You'll Never Walk Alone, especially after having been used by the amazing Sparky last year. All these songs can be sung very well n these competitions, there are just too many versions to live up to now, so many so that they might not seem so much inspirational as repetitive, if you know what I mean.

Hey, I wonder if LeAnn Rimes' "Life Goes On" would count as inspirational, for Kristy? That would rock!

Love the idea for Jason, i'm a huge Eagles fan, he could also do Desperado really well.
What about an eagles Theme week???

Your right Kenny, they didn't eliminate anyone last year during IGB week and carried the votes over.

I wondered if they would do the same thing this year. Isn't there some rumour about a wildcard spot for the tour being voted on by the public ..... with all of the eliminated contestants since top24 being eligible for the place?

I wondered if they were going to incorporate this vote into the IGB week ... in other words they aren't being cruel and voting someone someone off, instead they are voting someone onto the tour.

Or did I just dream this rumour up ?

ETA ... I didn't dream it...lol

I hope there is an elimination:

A) because Kristy has had a run of good luck saving her recently (song about the good old US of A, then country week) and she shouldn't have another free week (not that I'm saying she should definitely go, just that she should have to fight for it).

B) they did the 'shock no elimination' last year, they can't do it again.

I didn't bother with IGB last year, I might do as prairie girl says and record it and skip to the good bits, it's not really my kind of thing.
