Hi looking for something for the new ps3 for the kid's bedroom. We don't have sky, just freeview but would of course like to get best picture
and sound for £300 or less. Mainly to be used for ps3 but also normal telly and maybe an odd hd dvd. I know the budget is not big but am looking at something like this .... http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130222

If you know of anything better near the price, I'd be happy to hear from you.

That tv looks fine for your budget.

Just make sure the tv has at least one preferably 2 HDMI inputs.

My sons LCD tv only has component inputs

You could try Richer Sounds who often sell discontinued models from the quality brands for excellent prices.

Try as they might- Samsung are still a budget brand

Thanks for that, yes I had a look at Richer Sounds and they have this one cheaper but it's lower contrast ratio. The only other tv's in my price range are LG's. Sound does not seem to be great on these tv's either.

If you are planning to use tv speakers I would go for the £199 set and use the other £100 to buy a sound system .

You should be aware that the PS3 has an HDMI and an optical output for sound.

Pumping it through 2 little tv speakers is a waste.

£100 wont buy you the best audio system in the world but it will be streets ahead of a tinny tv setup

A slightly poorer contrast ratio wont make much difference on a 20" set.

The display will have to be really crap to make PS3 games look anything less that superb

I run my PS3 through an LG Lcd TV, it looks superb, sounds good too, particularly when fed through a home cinema system.

Looking at the reviews here

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-SM20.../dp/B000U1H0XY

people seem to rate the Samsung highly for use with a ps3. Sound seems to be the only issue but this can be sorted with a small 5.1 kit or similar.

I have a Samsung plasma and i'm a tv engineer, I dont care what anyone says, its the best value for money tv there is. I've seen tv's twice the price with a worse picture and most people who see mine think it cost £1000+. I spent months looking at customers tv's to compare which gave the best picture and it was the Samsungs that were consistantly the best. Certainly not "budget" as stated by mr spooner earlier.

I use a Samsung 22" Syncmaster (2232BW) monitor with my computer and the picture is excellent.

If the monitor is anything to go by, those little TV's should be pretty decent.
