All of the boys atleast get some role in Oliver, they've invested far too much time and money in them not to. Also, they'd probably prefer it if the boys didn't race off and instantly get roles as the kids in other productions!
I think the younger ones (Arthur, Joseph, Sam) who are about 10/11 have a LOT better future out of this, as they could seriously be in Oliver for a long time...basically being nurtured for playing Oliver. There was an article in The Stage (with Harry!) basically saying there's a shortage of male singers/dancers - so for Macintosh to have 12 here, he's hit the motherload. EDIT: And we don't know who the favourites are, it'd be impossible to say. I'd say about four/five of them through so far would be great Olivers. |

Jonny's voice doesn't seem to be close to breaking at the moment. Hopefully it's good that it's not.

the problem for boys is that you never know when the hormones are going to kick in and do their worst
Makes it very frustrating for all concerned the 11 year olds should be ok for a while - but with a 6 month gap between casting and opening night - anything can happen... |

Camilla posting -
Jonny's my favourite, which I've probably said time and time again. He really stood out last night and I'm extremely gutted that he's still not through! If he doesn't get a space in the final 2 slots then I'm going to cry. |

Me too, probably! I've been rooting for him since Electricty and every week I've thought, "right this is it, Jonny will get through tonight" - and he hasn't! However, last night they seemed to show a lot of him, in the group number and at the end when they were picking their Nancy to sing with them. So hopefully this is a good sign!
I really hope he gets through next week, his time to get through is overdue! (This is Camilla posting. I forgot to state in my last comment it was me) |

My friend and I have supported him since the beginning (since his audition) and we're now extremely stressed and worried that he's not going to get through to the SF! It'll most traumatic if he doesn't and IMO if he doesn't then he'll have been robbed!

Camilla, why don't you just make an account of your own? You always seem to be posting "this is Camilla posting, but...."
![]() Ah, Jonny... I do think he is good (he was my initial favourite, after all) but out of the ones left, Laurence has the better voice (really want to hear it in full) and Gareth always puts in the maximum effort (it's really quite endearing to watch). Jonny never seems fully engaged nor as comfortable on stage as some of the other kids, which is a shame because he seems much more relaxed & natural & likable in the VT (yes, I know he was much better this week, but...). He's just a bit frustrating to watch because I don't think he's utilising his full potential and always seem a bit lucklustre. I'm starting to think that maybe he's shy, or self-conscious (understandable given that he's just hitting the teenage years!) - either way, though I still think he deserves a shot in the semi finals, I don't think he's that much more deserving than anyone else. |

The winning Olivers will probably only do a 6-month or so stint, which (I think) is the usual for child actors. So I have a feeling that CM will keep the other boys on 'standby', so to speak, so that he can get a quick replacement when one of the chosen Olivers' voices break, or if their contract is up.

Sam. He looks really disappointed each time he isn't chosen. I hope he will be chosen soon.

Kwayedza won't make it through to opening night - his voice is already almost baritonal. Another 6 months and the break will have completely happened.
Which is a shame for the guy - but I suspect that with a voice like his, he will get a break in time |

Well done to Harry tonight - he was born to command the stage
Vocals weren't perfect admittedly but his acting more than made up for it. He also has a beautifully clear voice when he's singing higher; pity we couldn't hear more! The group number in general was good too, it made a nice change from the usual chosen ones being down and the others on the steps. Sarah was brilliant.

Loved the performance with Sarah tonight
( )Harry went way up in my estimations tonight- what comic timing he had in the "chosing the Nancy" VTs! I think he's one of the stongest actors, but I'm not sure if his voice is high enough for Oliver. I'm seriously hoping they cast a couple of Dodgers out of this lot too. They get down to six in the final, right? Maybe they can cast 3 as Oliver and 3 as Dodger? Lol! I don't want to see any of the boys realise they're not through to the semi-final...

I've just re-watched their performance of 'Together' and I think it's adorable. All the boys seem to have formed a really close friendship, and the bit where they hold hands on the steps is just so cute.
Bless 'em!

I've liked Harry for a while, and he's my fave boy there now, but I can't see him as Oliver.
I want to see some bloody acting. |

Although Harry is exactly how I would imagine Oliver, I wouldn't mind at all if he got the role. I love his acting and he has a lot of character.

I picked out Jonny from the start and I really hope he gets 1 of the last places into the semi's. I still think he's holding back a little but I think with a bit more confidence he'd let rip as he seemed to be really getting into it the last few weeks! It's just a shame as we never seem to see or hear much of the Oliver's who are yet to be picked so he hasn't had a proper chance to shine.

Oooh... gosh.. I wonder why I have never been in this sub forum before! I have so many opinions!
Favourite Olivers out of those already put through to the semis are Harry (yay! I squealed when he was chosen this week) and Chester... who btw has a very strong voice and great stae presence. Love Gwion, but I'm worrying about the accent. Not sure about the rest. I love Jordan's energy. Would like to see more out of Jonny. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of Gareth, Laurence or Joseph. Also... is Sam a bit toooooo cute for Oliver!
