Any word on the AI number for last nights episode?
The AI figures aren't available until two days after the broadcast.

For Doctor Who, that gives the people on the panel all of Sunday to fill in the survey for Saturday's programmes and make any comments if necessary.

I can't remember if I gave it a 7 or 8 now, but I tend to find that whatever the final AI figure is, I usually gave it the next full mark down. So if the AI for a programme I watched is beween 80 and 89 it's probably a fair bet that I gave it an 8/10.

Bizarre, but there you go!

that's good - is it including the Christmas special?
I don't think the xmas special can be included, it's not included in the other data as it tends to skewers the figures.

By my calculations series 7 proper is currently averaging 8.04

If it's not the xmas special, I'm not sure why your figures are different to mine.

Ep1 - 8.33
Ep2 - 7.57
Ep3 - 8.42
Ep4 - 7.67
Ep5 - 7.82
Ep6 - 8.44
--------------

48.25/6= 8.04

So....

7.95 million - Series 1 average
7.71 million - Series 2 average
7.55 million - Series 3 average
8.05 million - Series 4 average
7.73 million - Series 5 average
7.52 million - Series 6 average
8.04 million - Series 7 average after 6 episodes.
(edit... Wrong average for series 7)

I still predict a final of 7.2m.

AI is 84, which while a little below the norm, isn't actually a bad result at all considering.

Same score as Amy's Choice and Victory of the Daleks in series 5.

Amy's Choice got 84?

Shows the AI means nothing.

Appreciation index invalidated - it was one of the best episodes the show has seen.
I think an average of 5,000 responses is more indicative of a general feeling about an episode than your individual opinion.

I liked it a lot too

But it was a slightly unconventional sort of episode, and they do tend to fair slightly less well with the wider audience.

lol. Judging by the reactions on these forums I was expecting an AI of 2 or something like that.

BTW just out of curiosity does anyone know what the lowest AI figure an episode of Doctor Who has had?

The lowest three were:

Love and Monsters - 76

The End of the World - 79

The Unquiet Dead - 80

However, in the context of the series 1 episodes, bear in mind the show was freshly back on air and had a fairly unrefined audience at that time and as such a lot of episodes that series scored under 83.

I see, yes that explains it. Thanks. I was expecting to see Love and Monsters in there but was surprised about the other two.

Most Classic DW stories got AI's a lot lower than 76 but it may be things were measured differently then (not sure).

Oh right. I didn't even realise that they had AI figures for the classic series. Come on then, what's the lowest ever AI figure achieved by any episode of Doctor Who of all time? My money's on either The Twin Dilemma, The Happiness Patrol or Paradise Towers, but I'll probably be completely wrong and it'll turn out to be one of the gems like Pyramids of Mars instead

Look up the individual seasons on Wikipedia to get the AI's.

Just looked at some of the early ones and the lowest i saw was 36 for Ep3 of The Gunfighters,

Twin Dilemma ranged from 59 - 67.

Number 3. Will struggle to see it beat the other 2 this week, although the timeshift will still be much better, it's about 500k short of SNT (excl. +1) and 700k short of The Voice

I'm pretty sure episode 1 of Power of the Daleks got the lowest AI figure ever, something in the low 30s - due to the regeneration.

That got 43 and I missed seeing Ep 4 of the Gunfighters as that was even lower than Ep3 with an AI of 30.

So another 400k has been added on to that figure, it now sits at 6,889m

So we should see it hit 7m tomorrow
