The alarm bells prematurely ringing around the forum about DW getting its ass kicked by the BGT's final must need cranking up a notch or two then!

I readily expect Michael Grade to tell the BBC to axe Doctor Who after it gets beaten on Saturday.

Are people who watch BGT necessarily the same as people who watch DW?
If DW gets 7.5m, and BGT gets 10m, I don't see why that's a problem. Just proves that the dullards watching BGT aren't watching DW, and if Cowell and Moron weren't on TV making fools of the vulnerable and bewildered on a Saturday night they'd be waching Ant & Bee's Saturday Night Ripoff or downing WKD or whatever else they do to pass the time. Oooh, I am in a bad mood this evening! |

The ratings are not suprising. It was the Final of a top rated programme which has been building up all week. It had to turn out like this. Everyone i know was talking about BGT all week.
I expect alot of people recorded Dr Who. |

As I said, anything above 5 million is a result. The Beeb will be very happy with that.

That episode went on to record a final rating of 6.08m. |

I only hope a lot of people recorded the episode or are planning to watch the repeat or else figures could potentially be the same or lower for part 2 due to people thinking "well, I missed part one, no point watching part two".

I think it makes sense that people would watch a live final, and record Doctor Who. Especially if they've been watching BGT all week.
I think the final figure for Saturday will be much higher. That said, a great shame that such a truley splendid episode was watched by such a relatively small number of people. |

![]() On a more serious note, just as there are people who come here after every 'part one' saying they didn't realise it was going to be a two-parter, I'm sure many of the casual viewers (the ones who were most likely to tune into BGT) will be unaware next week, and as long as the lead in to the cliffhanger and opening credits is done well there's no reason for them to desert. Hopefully they'll be hooked before they realise they should know more about these people than they do. In this respect it helps that these days each episode has it's own name. If it was billed as "Library of Death - Part 2" then more people would be put off. I now have a strange desire for eps 8 & 9 to be called "Library of Death." It's a good old fashioned Doctor Who story title, isn't it?

I can honestly say that not a single person I know (at home, work or play) has been talking about BGT this week.

Thank the Lord. ![]() Also remember around 60% of the uk population is not watching TV at any given time and that 50-60% of the TV audiense is also watching other channels when BGT is on. It does annoy me when people say things like "everybodys talking about this" or "its essential viewing" etc. |
