Official Utube of NOTD now at 1.7 million, any guesses as to the final figure after the red button starts running tonight and for the rest of the week.
I mean total views, inc. iplayer, red button, other websites etc.

Christ on a bike, thats impressive! Haven't seen an overnight like that post 2005 outside of a couple of Xmas specials…

eta: in fairness to X Factor, it held up well here, considering the ratings for Doctor Who.

Gutted it's been uploaded already, that will take viewers away from iplayer and they may not count officially but those figures are always interesting.

Excellent overnights, I popped into the ratings thread a while ago and there were lots of guesses of 10m but they were being called nonsense! So pleased that all the effort has paid off for everyone involved.

An Unearthly Child had 4.4 million, so no, not really….

It was overshadowed by Kennedy's assassination the prior day, though ratings increased be a couple of million by the last couple of parts.

It took till 1964 to make it to the 10 million mark.

D'oh! I always thought those names were too similar!

(In that case, I will change my objection to "robbing the BBC of DVD sales that they could use to make more DW" )

There was something oddly desperate about the 10th birthday stunt by the X factor, no idea why they just didn't just shrug their shoulders and take the hit, Doctor Who has had to do it a fair few times in the past.

In AAITAS , I think with the intro of the Daleks, the viewing figures were quoted as 10 million.

Not till the last two episodes, which were in 1964. Only one part of The Daleks went out in 1963, and was in the 6 million range. Figures rose through its run to 10.4 million for the last two parts.

A three million time shift is a lot to ask tbh. We've seen 2.5 million for regular episodes, of course, and yes, theres a lot of hype about this, but equally you may find a lot of time shifters opted to watch the event live because it was the 50th. So it could time shift a good deal less. Or maybe not.

Higher audience share than The End of Time.

I was thinking the overnight figure would be 8 million at least - For it to be 10.2 million, that's just fantastic

I am so glad I was (wildly) wrong in predicting victory for the X Factor. The BBC obviously pitched it right in terms of the publicity campaign.

Well done 50th; a split on here, but you can't argue with 10 million+, and the sold out cinemas screenings.

I watched and I've not watched DW (or any Saturday night telly) regularly for years. There'll be lots like me! I may even watch it again as I got a bit confused looking for in-jokes and wondering why Blackadder's Queen was running about, and didn't follow the plot.

There's a thread on the Broadcasting forum in which people are moaning about how fed up they are with the "over-promotion" of DW during the last couple of weeks. I've just popped in there to have a bit of a gloat. Ten million! Brilliant!!

Yep Posted the same thing in main ratings thread.
Going on the 10 years of songs was a bad idea if they wanted to try and hurt DW they should have got some big name acts.
Getting in an the anniversary was just silly.

So pleased for DW though I loved it
