That's a tiny increase though. Looks like it won't hit 3m which is rare for a BBC2 drama.

But what about an AI rating for the "Five-ish Doctors"? It must get near 100?

Thanks Yog. Are you using averages for the BIB? If you take the highest rated episode, quite a few dramas have done better than AAISAT. If based on average The Politician's Husband is currently ahead with 2.84m.

it seems to have time shifted decently, you have to consider the base - something that rates with 2.161 million isn't likely to time shift 2 million. I'd hoped it would get to 3 million, which looks unlikely now, but it's a niche drama.

thanks Bit surprising with being a niche drama not to see 89 or 90.

Sorry you are right, for some reason A Politician's Husband didn't come up in my list when searching via Genre. In fact there seems to be a couple that didn't come, so ignore what i said!

I expected over a million in Timeshift for An Adventure In Space and Time. Looks like it could be touch and go.

The daily AI questionaire only covers about sixteen channels, so we don't get to comment on stuff like the Red Button extras.

You mean those *only two* big episodes?

Here's the top 11 New Who episode ratings that I've just researched.

Voyage of the Damned (13.31m) AI:86
The Next Doctor (13.10m) AI: 86
The End of Time Part 2 (12.27m) AI: 89
A Christmas Carol: (12.11m) AI: 83
The End of Time Part 1 (12.04m) AI: 87
The Day of the Doctor (11.80m(so far)) AI:88
Rose (10.81m) AI: 81
The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe (10.77m) AI: 84
Journey's End (10.57m) AI: 91
The Waters of Mars (10.31m) AI: 88
The Eleventh Hour (10.08m) AI: 86

So far, it seems that Day is headed for third place at least - by far guaranteed to be the highest rated and most well-received special of Moffat's era - quite fitting for the 50th to be a high achiever!

Thanks for these. Can't believe The Snowmen didn't rate higher. The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe is awful!

Totally agree with that - I think the 5:15 start time hurt it to the point where it wasn't able to recover on timeshift alone. It was far more worthy of a late slot than... that episode. I maintain that Moffat must have been high and/or drunk when he wrote TDTWTW. >_<

I still maintain the 5:15pm start time was just barely okay, and the rating it got for that slot was excellent (9.87 million) but it was undoubtedly hindered a bit ratings wise.

Shouldn't be an issue this year

I was thinking more about The Snowman's AI. The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe did better? I am shocked!

Doctor Who won't be before 6pm this year. Not for such a big episode.

oh i dunno its so surprising, while i think the snowman is definitely of higher quality, the emotional side of Wardrobe was perfect for the xmas day audience, plus the whole narnia thing.

I'm hoping they will team Who and SCD up again….winning formula!

Doctor Who sandwiched between two EastEnders episodes really worked well for it.

TDTWATW was the year before so people who didn't like that and who only watch the christmas episodes might have decided to give Who a miss the following year.

The hit coming off the 50th plus Matt's Regeneration means I reckon the Christmas episode will hit very big.

by the way I liked TDTWATW, am I the only one?

I don't mind it. It has some lovely scenes in the first half. It's just very plodding plot wise and the resolution, for me, is a bit naff.

Nope, I enjoyed it too. I've liked all the Christmas episodes - apart from The Runaway Bride
