If nothing is set in stone I wonder whether Corrie will move because of DW? I imagine the two shows they won't want Corrie up against are EastEnders and Dr Who.

I'm surprised that anyone worries about what things are scheduled against these days!

When you can record two things at once and watch a third (three things at once on Virgin, apparently). Or catch up on +1 or on demand. It's not really an either/or any more.

Call The Midwife 18:15 - 19:30
Doctor Who 19:30 - 20:30

What's the betting that those two only swapped position very late in the day after the scale of the Anniversary success became clear?

Pretty sure the End of Time was up against Corrie, would be apt if it was the case again

The worst possible thing the BBC could do is pit DW off against Corrie, it would appear like they were trying to kill the show all over again.

Although I do suppose a regen episode will get twice as many viewers so as long as they don't repeat it for Season 8.

Discussed with some fellow academics earlier today, that we are expecting around 20m for a regen on xmas day. Much below that will surely back up the claims of some naysayers that DW is passed its sell-by date. Important 48hrs ahead of us. I hope for MOFFAT's sake that all ends well.

That sounds like a very unlikely expectation. Why would it be expected to get so much more than the 50th Anniversary? It's nowhere near as landmark a moment.

What nonsense!

It'll get around 10 million the same as TDOTD last month.

I honestly can't tell if this is finely crafted sarcasm or not... I'm just going to hope it is as 20m is insanity! We haven't seen those sorts of figures for 'normal' TV for a decade and it ain't going to start again on Wednesday. Around 10m would be a very good result IMO. If it gets anywhere near the 12.8 million that Day of the Doctor manages that really would be a Christmas miracle!

The Day of the Doctor will not become the highest ratings ever for the show, I can guarantee it will get slightly lower than the 50th.

just because your group meets furtively in the school gymnasium after hours it doesn't make you academics.

From BBC News...

Quote:
“The regeneration of Doctor Who was the most watched piece of Christmas Day television with 10.2 million viewers viewing the five-minute sequence.

However the most watched entire show was Mrs Brown's Boys Christmas Special which averaged 9.4 million viewers.

An average of 8.3 million watched Matt Smith's final appearance as the Doctor.”

Fellow academics? Well they clearly know sweet FA about television ratings!
Fellow trolls more like. Do you all meet under a bridge whilst waiting for three billy goats?

I think that's a very good result opposite Christmas Corrie. Should consolidate to 10.5 million-ish? So about the same number of people saw Peter Capaldi's first appearance (Well, second!)as saw Christopher's first appearance in 2005.

This programme is in rude health going into 2014.

Up against Corrie that's a really good result.

Very poor figures. Hopefully iPlayer can bring in another 3-4m overnight to make the final figures respectable.

A DW regen episode on Xmas day pulling in less than 9m?

I remember when Del and Rodney became Millionaires in OFAH, how many people watched that, 20m? 30m? A DW regen on xmas day should have the same kind of pulling power.

MOFFAT needs a long hard look at himself.

Yes. And remember when in1958 the BBC's Christmas show Yuletide Miracle drew in 91% of the Tv audience. Moffat clearly cannot bring in anything like these percentages. He needs to resign. Now
