It was that tiresome 100-1 lottery quiz show with Ben Shephard afterwards, hence the exodus.

I may be sounding stupid but what is AI. I know it's something to do with how much the audience enjoyed the programme... but how do they get it etc? Thanks

AI = Appreciation Index....basically the representative sample of viewers rate the show out of 100, and the score is averaged out. anything over 85 is excellent, anything over90 is exceptional.

The 89 FotD scored is joint highest since the series returned along with several other episodes.

I think the viewers actually rate it out of 10, which is a bit more sensible if you think about it, and then their average score is multiplied by 10 to give the AI as a mark out of a hundred.

I believe that's the highest ever jump between overnights and final figures. It's usually a rock solid 10-11% kump, but this one was 16%.

Plus the BBC3 figure was 63% up on the previous episode.

You're right. I guess given the choice between a live final (Britain's Got Talent) or Doctor Who, more people would opt for the live final and watch Doctor Who afterwards. Nice to see the figures up though, all the same.

So, is this the lowest audience count since the start of the series after all?

If it's not, I think that gives the show something to be proud of - that it held its own despite an incredibly popular event spectacle on the other side.

Cypher

From the news article "The rating is the lowest since The Satan Pit in 2006, which got 6.1 million watching."

Impossible Planet got 6.32m, and SitL is sandwiched between them at the bottom of the charts.

Well, I think that's a sound result considering...

Many thanks Mr. Slug!

I agree, especially when you add in the increased viewing through BBC3 and iPlayer.

And you're welcome!

I found this on The Doctor who forum

Very interesting. The only thing that you might have to do is when you load it up after the 1st time you may have to hit refresh to get it to show any new information.

What is it? I can't see it because I'm not registered.

It is a list of Doctor Who ratings for every episode with details for every TV and iPlayer showing. All presented with some very good graphics. The thread also has links to similar threads for series 1-3. Although the series one thread is only in text without all the graphics.

Just to add the peak as well-: 7.7m (39.1%) at 19.30

Delighted to see- I think looking at rzt's list it was the most watched show yesterday!

Looks like this series will have the highest average of the four series so far. Cos the next three episodes are bound to do even better surely?

Not bad when it had the timeslot against it, and also that catherine tate was going to alienate so many viewers

What i think is really great about Dr Who is the ratings have been really steady since its return. Even the Christmas ones have got brilliant ratings.

I would have thought the ratings would have declined by now, not that the quality has. Good to see that the ratings are so great, even 3 years after it came on.
