The people have spoken. Or pressed a button, anyway.

Matter of interest, anyone got to hand the bottom, say, 5 episodes for C21 Who AI wise? Just for a bit of context.

Full List of episodes (up to Listen) sorted by AI.

Excellent stuff, ta. Well, seeing as ,say, ITFOTN got the same as The Time of the Doctor I know how much importance they are to me personally.

Well look at it this way: it's an episode that bumped up the overnights by about 0.5m and delivered a pretty decent AI rating - and its the episode that leads directly into the finale episodes. So hopefully it will capture some interest and so deliver a bump in viewers at the end too.

That just goes to prove that what the fans think isn't the same as the casual viewer!

RTD was right.. Make the show for the general public not the fans... Moffat must be having a little chuckle to himself right now!

Interesting AI. It's still pretty low by Doctor Who's standards yet still higher than Listen....
Interesting indeed.

Once again I'm out of touch with much of the "general public." The AI for the likes of Listen could have 70 for all I would have cared. I'll take 12 of that over 1 of this.

(and those who want to sack the EP without a replacement - which gives me a good chuckle )

Yes, an AI of 83 is *just* better than 'Listen', 'Deep Breath', etc. but compared with the AI scores for the rest of show since 2007, it's pretty poor.

Not poor at all, after all, it's pretty much on par with the Tennant/Piper era, which is seen by a large group of fans as the so-called "golden era" of New Who. It's a backhanded blessing in disguise.

I'm afraid some of those AI figures are wrong. Or, rather, they are right, but the wrong 'right' ones.

Back when Doctor Who returned, the current AI system was new, and was still running in parallel with the previous one. Some of those old numbers have sneaked into people's AI lists.

Under the current (far better) AI system:

World War Three - 82
Rose - 81
The End of the World - 79

Not counting shows with multiple weekly episodes (that is to say, counting Eastenders once rather than four or five times) - do we know where Doctor Who sits in terms of BBC1's weekly viewing figures?

Alongside some of the most popular shows on British television airing at this time of year, Series 8 has done very well.

Must say if I had put my casual viewer head on I would have had to switch over to something else.

Some of those shock me.

87 for Dinosaurs on a Spaceshi*?
88 for The Doctor's Daughter?!
89 for The End of Time Part 2?!?

What is wrong with people

I loved the Doctor's Daughter. What was wrong with the Doctor's Daughter?

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship was one of my least favourites but I can understand why the kids and casual viewers might love it. I found it too farcical but I suppose some people like farce

You forgot 91 for Journey's End, proof in itself that the AI system is basically useless.

- Insultingly wasteful throw away plot device of Doctor having a 'daughter' cynically used to prop up a weak half written tossed off on a napkin mid season filler episode and ensure people get unduly excited? Check

- Martha Jones? Check

- Comedy Donna? Check

- Hackneyed 'never ending war' recycled plot? Check

- Annoying grinning dick from Skins who couldn't act his way out of a paper bag if his Equity card depended on it? Check

- Martha Jones? Check

- Fish creatures made of balls of string and paper mache? Check. Pretend its a call back to Classic Who but really now. 1976 called and it wants its props back

- 'Its called the Doctors daughter...lets cast the doctors daughter!'
'But she cant act'

'...but look! Its the Doctors daughter! Like in real life!'
'Sigh'

- Can we all agree that our beloved Timelord would never produce such a horrendously patronising vision of mid-nineties girl power mixed with lazy Lara Croft mixed with Zoe Ball? The kind of liberated woman who drinks pints and probably has a tribal tattoo on her lower back obtained on her gap year in New Zealand? Good.

- If Moffat had written such a sexist character that's all tits and teeth and looks like she just tumbled off a Wonderbra billboard circa 1996 the Tumblr Femmes would be marching on Downing Street demanding he be sacked/castrated/insert something horrible

-Martha Jones

-The kind of anti-war/pro pacifist simplistic drivel that wouldn't look out of place in am episode of Thundercats and makes S8s anti Soldier arc resemble World At War? Check

-Oh. Wait. At least they killed her off. No chance of seeing her again!

Oh bugger.

No, it's proof that listening to hardcore fans would be wrong. This is a mass-appeal show, not some niche little programme on a small channel.

Ha and we know whose bright idea it was to resurrect her

(Still at least he hasn't brought her back yet)
