I watched it live via iplayer, is that counted in the initial ratings?

After some research the ratings are in and are :-
8.4 million. 39.4% share Which is a good solid start I would have said, and it was the most watched programme on TV yesterday ![]() Edit: Just seen the answer in the post above. |

Does this take into account iplayer figures? How are they factored in? It is the number one show on iplayer at the moment.
Edit: Just seen the answer in the post above.

Eleventh Hour - Overnight Ratings
Overnights of 8.3m
![]() Considering that this figure almost always goes up when the final BARB rating is announced, this is a really fantastic start!

I'm very interested to see what the AI will be, because that will be a good way to measure how much the episode resonated with the wider audience as well as the more hardcore fanbase.
IIRC that should be due on Monday some time. |

That's excellent; and with the strong opening episode, I'm really hopeful the viewing figures stay high - I'm sure it will

Overnights were 7.7m on BBC1 and a further 300,000 on HD, so 8.0m in total: http://gallifreynewsbase.blogspot.com/
Based on overnight ratings, it was the joint least watched season opener since 2005. But it's the same number as the one who watched DT's first regular series episode. |

If there's going to be a disagreement about it, can you post a source? All I could find from Google was that The Gallifrey Times (http://thegallifreytimes.blogspot.co...t-ratings.html) report unofficial overnights of 8.3m. But there's no reason to believe official overnights (if those exist?) won't differ.
EDIT: oh, you've posted a source either while I was typing or before I even started typing it with me being so ignorant as not to notice. I wonder what could explain the disparity? |

But other websites still have the incorrect 8.3m in their articles. |

Looking at a few sites, it appears it was actually around 8.3 including HD viewers, but it'll be seven days before the figures for those who recorded it to watch later can be estimated. Not bad, I'd say. Where has the revised 7.7 come from?

BUT what's really important is what happens now with the trend which will determine if Smith, Gillan and Moffat are regarded as a winning team by the public. |

![]() I can't help but wonder if these figures might have been better had the series premiered sooner (i.e. not on a holiday weekend) ... |
