Why would I want the show moved to a different day on a channel which gets far fewer views?
And which will likely be moving online anyway? And which is aimed squarely at a more narrow demographic than that of BBC one (and a more adult demographic at that)?

3.7 Million is the overnight figure. Matches The Witch's Familiar http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2015/10...g-figures.html

Is that good? Doesn't sound it.

What's the lowest ever for Nu-Who, anyone know?

Better than I expected. Really thought sub 3 million was a real possibility
the 20:30 start time alone just crazy. its too late for a show like that

Considering the crucial England rugby match, then it is a relatively good rating.

As next week's match is now a pointless exercise by a team already out of the competition, it will be interesting to see if they pick up

I was expecting a drop due to the importance of the match, so I'm pleased it at least held up. We now know how many Whovians don't like Rugby

Hopefully next week will see an increase of sorts, providing people watch Part 1, first.

Unsurprised to see it was the same - if people picked it over rugby last week they were likely to again. Kind of suggests that's it base loyal viewers (considering that goes up to midnight the same night).

I think the media, as ever, completely overexaggerates the wider public's interest in sport. Rugby is a total snooze for most people.

Rugby World Cup: England vs Australia: 8.03m (36.8%)
* peak: 11.08m (48.9%) at 21:30
Remember, Doctor Who was at it's absolute peak, never been more popular, mass public appeal, the best of mainstream television when it got 8m.

Dunno - the England vs Wales game had an average audiance of 8.3m. Can't really see how that didn't take a chunk out of DW's numbers.

Plus the later time slot - for a family show I'd say that there's a good chance that some of these families (ie. Kids) were probably in bed at that time. Hence I'd expect lower real time numbers and higher time-shifted viewing.

Out of a population of how many? [and given the premium that seems to attach to watching sporting events 'live'?] As I said, rugby is a total snooze for most people.

Nobody would be asking that question if it was Who.

Oh well - back to lurking for another week.

You really can't use the population argument, otherwise we can only conclude that 'most' people think that DW is absolute bobbins, and always have.

I was expecting a slight drop tbh due to the vital rugby game, the fact that the entire episode was against the match and the later time slot. Someone on the other ratings thread suggested there would have been less interest in Wales for this game. Anecdotal I know, but that wasn't the case with me or anyone I know considering our form against Australia! (ie Brave performance, close game...Aussies win with a kick in the last minute.)

Enough about sport......not a bad rating in the circs and hopefully we'll see an upward trend next week. I am really not keen on Who going post watershed during an episode, but those are the cards we've been dealt.

It's true though, when you look at things objectively.

Yes, I suppose it is if you look at it that way....

So same overnight as last week but it will be interesting to see if the Live figures were up or down from 2.8M.

Quite a relief really - and I do think the overnight will return to last year's average once the rugby is gone.

I wonder if 3.7 is the core audience, the lowest Nuwho would drop...

But it will just be up against x factor instead

X factor isn't as strong as the rugby World Cup though

Still a terrible overnight, but the silver-lining is that I was expecting a lot less based on how quiet this forum was yesterday. It's sort of a relief that there wasn't any further decrease in the figures.

I remain optimistic that the overnights will be boosted somewhat once the Rugby ends.

Either this week or last week. Depends what the final figure is. Neither final figures have been published yet though. IIRC the lowest up until now was The Satan Pit.
