Maybe we can just ignore for now the overnights, catch-up, AI, share etc etc that is either indicative of failings within the show, indicative of poor scheduling or indicative of nothing worrying whatsoever (take your pick). For every simple view that it's all a bit poor there seem to be a myriad of reasons why it's all perfectly understandable.
Instead should we look at where the show comes in ranking on saturday night and where it comes compared to all other drama. Does doing that give any encouragement?
Just trying to convince myself that shedding a million viewers since series 8 isn't anything to worry about.
I like Capaldi so hope he's not the cause. But if he is, then he is. It's a shame they thought doing a Sixth Doctor in series 8 was such a fantastic idea. Muddies the water when wondering whether it was that mistaken route that people don't like or simply an older Doctor - regardless of how he plays it/is written for.
I'm pinning my hopes on it being a combination of the scheduling (too late for Doctor Who, time of year etc) and all the stuff Dr Thete etc say about how telly is all over the shop with falling numbers, competing demands etc.
