I've just been going through the beginning of the thread....and the interesting views I have picked up on...and the first time I too posted in this thread (panic mode )

And its interesting to note that not much has changed, and how some were panicking over the overnight ratings of series 4...especially as it seemed to be going lower than up, during the first half of the series.....

So as all things...some things never change!!!!!

I've become a lot better informed about ratings the last couple of years....funny the things you get interested in when you love a tv show!

I daresay this has been covered before on this thread but - what is AI and what does it mean?

Appreciation Index. It's the rating out of 100 awarded by a highly representative sample of viewers, anything over 85 is considered excellent.

How refreshing that some one with a question about ratings posts there question in a thread designed for this purpose rather than starting a new thread about it!

Thanks for that. I thought it was Audience something, but couldn't think what.

Excellent stuff. Viewing is much more fragmented this year with HD and more than ever watching by various methods of timeshift, but overall levels of viewership remain consistent with the RTD years. No need for the panic reaction to the overnights you get in some places.

Around 7,500,000 viewers is excellent

Not watched Cold Blood yet (will do tonight). All this talk about low ratings is getting on my nerves now. It's like chinese whispers going around. If people start to believe it's doing badly then it will do badly.

Present some of them with the evidence that it's doing very well and they still think it's doing badly.

Never underestimate the evasiveness of a fcukwit. They're able to argue their way out of any corner they've managed to back themselves into, largely through misdirection or pedantry.

some people want to see it fail to try and make some kind of point fandom is very odd that way.

I don;t even see why that thread has been started when this thread was perfectly capable of dealing with the question it posed.

So far then it's the second most-watched series since it returned!

Hardly the catastrophe some are babbling about!

well it's to be remembered that series 4 had a very strong home straight, so ultimately I'd say we may have to settle for 3rd spot. But however it turns out anyone who tries to claim the show is doing less well doesn't really know what they are talking about, quite frankly.

The Cold Blood final rating is truly excellent and again a bit more than anticipated - and VATD should also be around 7m based on these sort of figures. Lets hope for a bit of hype about the final 2 parter so that the series average can stay above 8m.

the only series to average over 8 million was series 4. At the start of the series I would have been delighted with the series 3 average of 7.55. Right now I'd suggest an average a shade under 8 million, but that'd be an awesome start to this new era.
