thats a very impressive HD figure (the highest the show has had i think).

from that would predict final ratings of between 7.2 and 7.9 million.

eta: most watched programme of the night, btw.

The May publicity pack for iPlayer gives an interesting insight into the habits of Dr Who viewers, I think.

It's at http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcintern...k_may_2010.pdf

Page 13 shows the top 20 episodes; the first four are all Dr Who, with the lowest at 1,074,000, and the next is Outnumbered, 832,000. That's almost 200,000 more for Dr Who.

Even more striking, on the same page, is the 'Most requested episode per series', which in the case of DW is ep 7 at 1,372,000 views, compared to that episode of Outnumbered.

Or, put another way, the most requested episode of Dr Who on iPlayer has half a million more requests than the most requested episode of any other BBC show.

Besides Dr Who, only five other shows in the top 20 managed half a million requests or more. Dr Who has around million more requests than every series in the second half of the top 20.

I don't think there's any word other than 'astonishing' for that, really.

Doctor Who is easily the biggest show on Iplayer these days. It has had a big growth since series 4, more than double the views iirc....this week could be a massive number of views i think..

Apparently the total ratings are correct (5.9 million), but the HD figures were incorrect. The HD figure was actually 0.5 million.

Bit out of date, that.

The Eleventh Hour: 10.08 million
The Beast Below: 8.4 million
Victory of the Daleks: 8.2 million
The Time of Angels: 8.6 million
Flesh and Stone: 8.5 million
The Vampires of Venice: 6.2 million
Amy's Choice: 7.5 million
The Hungry Earth: 6.48 million
Cold Blood: 7.49 million
Vincent and the Doctor: 6.76 million
We don't have final ratings for The Lodger or for The Pandorica Opens.

Looking forward to the AI tomorrow.

If the poll in the episode thread is anything to go by, it should be the highest yet for Doctor Who.

Has anyone put the total iPlayer ratings outside of catch-up TV services like Virgin - which don't count in BARB's tally - alongside the final, time-shifted figures we've got so far for Series 5 at all?

I would guess the BBC would also be taking those numbers into account, even if the current system doesn't...

E: If it makes it easier for anyone with that data:

The Eleventh Hour: 10.08 million + X million iPlayer
The Beast Below: 8.4 million + X million iPlayer
Victory of the Daleks: 8.2 million + X million iPlayer
The Time of Angels: 8.6 million + X million iPlayer
Flesh and Stone: 8.5 million + X million iPlayer
The Vampires of Venice: 6.2 million + X million iPlayer
Amy's Choice: 7.5 million + X million iPlayer
The Hungry Earth: 6.48 million + X million iPlayer
Cold Blood: 7.49 million + X million iPlayer
Vincent and the Doctor: 6.76 million + X million iPlayer

If you look at this information on Gallifrey Base.

http://gallifreybase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44551

You can compare this information against previous series by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page.

You will find that the Total Ratings are fairly similar between both this series and series four (keep in mind that not all the figures for Vincent and the Doctor onwards are in yet).

It seems that TPO received the highest AI of the series so far: 88

So lowest ep 11 from new who then? Shame, but not unexpected considering it was a fairly light episode in the middle of a World Cup and with trailers that didn't present the most thrilling reasons to watch (only episode this year I delayed watching, truth be told). Still, nothing to panic about, still really good figures and considering TPO did 5.9 before timeshift and will probably end up damn close to 8 that's more than good enough.

Its definitely nothing to panic about....its certainly not as low as the Impossible Planet, Satan's Pit and Silence in the Library....so if those despite having low ratings, still didn't do damage to the show overall...the Lodger did really well and so has series 5 overall

it is still a good result, end of the day so far we have one top rated and one bottom rated, mostly rated in the middle in comparison on a comparision by comparison basis, - at the start of the series i expected to be around the ratings average of series 3, so to me it has performed better than i expected. I also think this is the biggest opposition the show has ever been up against (the football) - bigger even than when SITL was up against BGT final, because that year
BGT was averageing less than 10 million, and wasn't the peneominum it became the following year.

The show is rebuilding again, and we have gotten a nice solid base this year, job done.

Good news about the AI (though i am not surprised!).

First of all, there is a very nice ratings thread here:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...8#post39415518

I really wish people would make more use of it!

Secondly, rating this year are fine. They are well within the range we have seen in recent years. The only difference is that we have seen a move towards more people time shifting the programme. This is, in itself, something that has been the case year on year since 2005, though it notices more this series due to the lack of a series last year (thus the jump looks bigger).

Series 4 is likely to rate higher, but thats to be expected given it was the culmination of several years of work, but ratings are solid as a rock regardless.

Final ratings to date:

*************** S1* *S2* *S3* *S4* *S5*
episode 1 10.81: 8.62: 8.71 : 9.14:10.08
episode 2 7.97: 9.24: 7.23 : 9.04 : 8.42
episode 3 8.86: 8.31: 8.41 : 7.50: 7.82
episode 4 7.63: 7.90 : 6.69 : 7.06 : 8.59
episode 5 7.98: 9.22: 6.96 : 6.53 : 8.50
episode 6 8.63: 7.64: 7.19 : 7.33 : 7.68
episode 7 8.01: 6.76: 7.41 : 8.41 : 7.55
episode 8 8.06: 6.32: 7.74: 6.27 : 6.49
episode 9 7.11: 6.08: 7.21 : 7.84: 7.49
episode 10 6.86: 6.66: 6.62: 8.05: 6:76
episode 11 7.68: 7.14: 7.84: 8.09: 6.44
episode 12 6.81: 8.19: 7.31: 8.78
episode 13 6.91: 8.22: 8.62:10.57
Average--- 7.95: 7.71: 7.55: 8.05

Series 5 has the:

second highest ratings for a series opener.
third highest ratings for the second episode of a series.
fourth highest ratings for the third episode of a series
highest ratings for the fourth episode of a series
second highest rating for the fifth episode of a series
second highest rating for the sixth episode of a series
third highest rating for the seventh episode of a series
third highest rating for the eighth episode of a series
second highest rating for the ninth episode of a series
third highest rating for the tenth episode of a series
lowest ratings for the eleventh episode of a series

Notes:

1.series 5 figures include simultaneous HD viewing figures
2. series 5 episode 3 did not have a simultaneous HD showing. It did however get 0.38m viewers later in the evening. Total audience for that day was 8.2 million

Yep includes HD (0.5 million). Should translate to final ratings of between 6.4 and 7.1 million, probably towards the upper end.

I thought it might be around 5.5 million, but it'll do.
