Much stronger looking figure there. I'd reckon on around 6.7m for part two.

So while I'm sure we'd all like the figures to be higher (well almost all of us) putting them in context shows a more accurate picture of how the series is doing compared to everything else.”

irrespective of what someone feels about a particular episode I am sure everyone who has a love for the series as a whole would want it to perform well.

Quite right too!

And want "I'd Do Anything" to be a horrible ratings disaster

It depends how many people recorded it. That figure maybe higher than normal.

I have no feelings either way when it comes to Find Me A Nancy, but I'm sure that if the shows on either side of Doctor Who perform well it can only be to Who's benefit.

Overnight ratings for The Doctor's Daughter:

6.6m (38.4%)

Good to see the audience share back up again, I guess it goes to show that extra 25 minutes makes a big difference on a warm day. Would expect the final rating to be around 7.2 million?

And THAT's why you don't show the series at 6.20 in the evening you scheduling morons. In fact I'd expect next week's to go up again as it (finally) starts at 7pm.

Yeah, possibly, plus I think the Agatha Christie theme will appeal to the casual viewer....

could it have been moved to a later slot due to content?

I often wonder what sort of ratings Who would get if it were shown in December/January time rather than may/june. I think that the dark winter nights would lead to more people watching, but then I could be wrong.

I think it's because MOTD isn't on from next Saturday - it has given them leverage to shift all the other shows to a slightly later slot. I think I read somewhere that from next week it's going to be on at around 7pm for the rest of the series..

it has been moved before due to content issues.

I think there is more of an arguement for moving the series to the Autumn/Winter schedule than ever before. Perhaps they wouldn't muck around with it's timing so much then.

Good to see a rise in DW's ratings this week. UP 0.7m from last week. I think if the ratings fell for a 6th week in a row, it would have worried the BBC. Thankfully it didn't. A good episode too last night!

Phew! At last the trend is bucked!

It's nice to see the viewing figures back up again - Who got 7.32 million at its peak according to the 5 minute breakdown, plus the audience share is decent as well - only 0.9 million less than Britain's Got Talent too!

Hopefully, the move back to 7pm will make a difference too!

Regards,

Cypher

The latter timeslot seems to have helped. Warm weather usually brings the figure down. I'd say that if a 7pm slot doesn't get a figure of 7m then DW is dying.

Nah - only kidding.

Interesting that Britain's Got Talent's audience took a tumble in the same week as DW rallying. Early roundd fatigue with BGT, people just want to get onto the actual final contestants, whereas a new bit of intrigue helped DW.

38.4% is a fantastic share - thats what has pushed the figures up. There were actually fewer people watching tv from 6.45 this week than there were from 6.20 last week, its just Doctor Who managed to snare a very healthy amount of them. I suppose the marketing campaign with the intriguing "hello dad!", brought in the viewers.

That combined with the later time slot, I agree. That's why I'm optimistic for next week - the Agatha Christie connection should appeal to a lot of the casual viewers.

I agree. How were the figures for The Shakespear Code or The Unquiet Dead (Charles Dickens) in comparison?

Do they really entice the casual viewer?

The Unquiet Dead - 8.9 million
The Shakespeare Code - 7.2 million

Though of course they are both the final figures as opposed to the overnights.

I'd suggest the final figures for next week would fall somewhere in between those two

Good to see the figures going up! And wow! Look at that audience share!

I'm dreading the figures for 2 weeks time! It's gonna be shown early cause of Eurovision! Blink didn't get that high of a rating did it? I'll feel sorry for Moffat if his episode doesn't get good ratings!
