I thought I player only counted the first time viewings but I guess if someone watches it twenty times it adds in the other nineteen too! Maybe not so accurate then for doctor who fans watching and rewatching.

But it's still not an accurate count, because I often watch the episode again on iPlayer after watching on TV. So I'm not a unique viewer.

Yeah I also rewatch on I player once or twice so no wonder those figures are quite high I can understand why the don't include them into the finals then

Ratings prediction for the power of three em 5.7 for the overnights!

Without the power of a 'strictly come dancing' sparkling lead in, doctor who averaged 5.5 million viewers for 'the power of three' episode. The fourth episode in the seventh series peaked at 5.9 million while on air. Doctor who's overnight audience wasn't the only one to go missing. Itv's the x factor also rated an overnight figure which was lower than last weekend. The series continued with the bootcamp auditions. It had an average audience of 7.9 million and 8.2 million with itv plus 1 viewers added on and peaked at 8.8 million. And had a peak of 9.2 million with itv plus 1 figures included.

Around 5.5m is around the average now, so nothing to worry about.

Hopefully this will time-shift to over 7m. That should keep the final average over over 7.5m

Yeah 'doctor who' had the second highest audience of the day only beaten by the mighty 'x factor' and had a good audience share of 25 per cent. It will time shift to over 7 million as the audience catches up on it. It deserves to have a better lead in though I feel, it has held up and spiked up the september bbc 1 primetime audience on its own rather than being given support by other bbc 1 brands. I wish they had held the series back until october really when the show could have really seen even bigger ratings than september's. At least its been given a later time slot which is in the autumn though.

The X Factor gets in the overnights what Dr Who gets with timeshift. I think it's safe to say that overall more people will watch X Factor

But ironically, far less people complain about DW's quality than X-Factor's at the moment. I think X-Factor's slowly heading on the journey to become more infamous than popular. ^^'

People can just go to the pub if they want to watch Karaoke. They even get the chance to take part if they want. I've done it plenty of times. What's the difference between that and x-factor?
What's next for prime time viewing, Pro international curb-ball? Getting through traffic jams the fastest, Paper toss into bins at work? Maybe this needs its own thread lol

Doctor who did achieve higher ratings than the x factor in its first broadcast this season it got 8.3 million and then I player figures took it to over 10 million that week.

'A Town Called Mercy' has a final rating of 8.42 million and makes episode three from the seventh series of 'doctor who' the highest rated episode of this latest series to date. It had a large overnight figure of 6.6 million the highest since 2010. It was only modestly below the 8.96 million who watched the 'strictly come dancing' launch show which preceded doctor who. The x factor also rated highly for the 15 september with 9.73 million tuning in.

Phew these figures are superb! Its time shifting around two million each episode. Hopefully power of three will do the same and series seven will keep going. They should have shown the rest of the series after strictly every week!

amazed at how high those figures are for ATCM. This season has done so much to remind me why i love this show so much.

Just been having a quick look about the net and can't see any AI scores for Saturday. Are they not out yet?

So that's...

Doctor Who. Series 7. AI Scores.

1. Asylum of the Daleks: 89
2. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: 87
3. A Town Called Mercy: 85
4. The Power of Three: 87

I think the AI average and the average ratings are level with series 4!

It looks like the move to the autumn and the later time slot (THANK YOU BBC!) are finally paying dividends!

Maybe Steven Moffatt does know what he's talking about after all . . .

The overnights aren't that different to the summer months though are they? I thought DW always averaged around 5.5 million from series 5 onwards?

There's definitely been a shift in habits from people watching it live to watching it later on iPlayer.

I also remember the audience share for season 4 was always around the 39% mark - I think that dropped for season 5 or 6 but assume we're up there again now.
