it seems that viewing figures were down across the board yesterday - not even EastEnders broke past the 10million mark...

7.59 is nevertheless a fantastic figure for Who, considering its early timeslot. The final figure could end up very much on par with The Christmas Invasion imo.

I've seen the figures for the whole day. No shows even broke 10m. Even Downton could only get around 6mil. Eastenders usually gets 15mil but around 9. With the early timeslot and this year seems a lot of people are just not watching the tv, 7.59 is quite good.

I agree.
Watching it again on the Xbox via Iplayer and its one of the best Christmas specials in a long time IMHO.

I truly thought with a 5:15 start time maybe the 6 million region.Utterly nuts by the BBC not putting SCD on 5:15 THEN DW.SCD's had months of basically prime time weekends and its not really worked for them with CTM not even doing that well.

We should also factor in that this is the first full post DSO Christmas. That's bound to affect the figures, even slightly.

Still very few series gain more than 30% share these days, DW is still managing it.

If it's iplayer watched through a TV like Smart TVs, Sky/Tivo boxes, XBox etc then it's measured. PC views aren't measured.

Yog101- do you know the consolidated ratings you've posted above, do they take into account the exact start and end times of the shows and strip out the adverts?

So to clarify: Corrie had 9.32m by the end of yesterday compared to 8.58m on Christmas Day itself. Is all of that 0.74m timeshift just the number of people who recorded the show and watched yesterday? Or is some of that 0.74m difference partly due to the stripping out of adverts? Thanks in advance.

I sometimes ask Trickytree for them. That's basically it. It'd be like you not watching Corrie on Christmas Day and watching a recording back the next day.

Good question, as far as I'm aware the increase is caused by those who recorded and watched yesterday

The people that recorded to watch during the week are what's added to the overnight. After each full day the number of people that watch the recording are added, it gives a running total.

It's a daily BARB update really.

What I meant is that obviously the people who recorded the show and watched the day later are included in those figures. But also don't forget that consolidated ratings which are published on the BARB website also take into account the exact start and end times of programmes (for example 21.01-21.59 instead of 21.00-22.00), as well as stripping out the adverts for commercial channels. I was just curious if those numbers Yog101 posted for Xmas Day already took into account the exact start/end times and stripped out the adverts or if that process is done at the end of the week after all the recording viewing is added on. That stripping out the advert process could add another 3-5% on top if it hasn't been done already.

The Snowmen had 1.434 million viewers on BBC America from 9-10:20 on Christmas night, which, if I'm remembering my figures correctly, makes it the second-highest single telecast ever on the channel (the highest-rated single telecast is the S7 premiere, which had about 1.55 million viewers). Hooray!
