Yog it's not said enough but thanks for posting the data. It's given us a lot to talk about and has been interesting to see how the ratings build up across a week.

Interesting to see the Christmas Day breakdown between Live and VOSDAL (Viewing on Same Day as Live) viewers for the dramas:

Live - 5.7461m
Vosdal - 1.8374m

Downton Abbey
Live - 6.0814m
Vosdal - 0.7477m

Call the Midwife
Live - 6.4294m
Vosdal - 0.8358m

Doctor Who's VOSDAL audience of 1.8m is the same as Christmas Day 2011 which also had a VOSDAL rating of 1.8m. The difference though is that whilst it had 5.7m live viewers this year, it had 7.2m live viewers in its later slot on Christmas Day 2011.

This is just an update, with just todays numbers to add to it, but I doubt it'll shift much from that.

Christmas Eve figures I believe are pretty much final now, and Boxing Day still has today and tomorrow to add to the final total.

Thanks Yog! Technically there is all of today to add, plus all of tomorrow up to the start time of each respective programme (17:15 in Doctor Who's case). Is anyone else a bit surprised that Downton hasn't increased by more, given the huge shift it had last year?

Doctor Who has now timeshifted by almost 4 million, as the live figure was 5.75m. The all time timeshift record for any programme is 4.1m, by The Impossible Astronaut. The Snowmen is agonisingly close to beating that!

On that point I have a question; why is it that Doctor Who timeshifts better than any other programme on TV?

Because it moves so fast and is often so complex that a lot of people have to watch it again very quickly to work out what the **** was going on?

No, the live figure was 5.75 million.

7.59m but that includes people that watched it non live on the day - if you watched it non live but before 2am on the day of broadcast you are included in the overnights even though technically you are also a time shift viewer.

Doctor Who is up at around 9.8m prior to the final figures coming in. Will be interesting to see it NYD saw a final push towards the 10m mark.
