As I only have one digital input on my surround system, but three hdmi ports on my tv, i figured the best setup would be

ps3-->hdmi-->tv
v+ -->hdmi-->tv
tv digital out --> optical -->surround sound sytem

Will my tv (a sony kdl32d300) correctly pass through DD 5.1 to the amp from the ps3 and V+ or am I missing something and will I be losing surround sound from this setup?

It all depends on two factors.

1/ that the source devices send 5.1 sound to the TV via HDMI
2/ that the TV sends it back out of the digital audio out.

The fact that 99.9999999999999999% of TVs are NOT surround sound devices means that factor 1 is by no means certain. It is just as likely that the source devices only send a stereo signal to the TV. After all the TV is unlikely to be able to process a Dolby Digital or DTS surround signal anyway.

The only way really is to try it and see. If you know the source audio is in DD or DTS format and the amp has indicators to show it is getting a DD or DTS signal then see what happens. If all you get is stereo than you know it doesn't work.

Your best bet in that case may be to connect the sources direct to the amp which would guarantee surround sound. Though obviously with only one digital input you are a bit limited on how you go about this.

If the ps3 and V+ box have optical digital outs then you can get optical switch units. Things get a little more complex if they are coaxial on phono plugs. But Maplin do a switch box that can take in either optical or coaxial (or a mix of either) and out put on optical or coax.
