Panasonic Dmp-bd30

Does anyone have any experience of the Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player? I've just bought one and when I was searching the web for the best price most of the sites stated that this player was multi-region for standard def DVDs. Having got the player running, it seems to be locked to region 2 only. Any ideas why? Is there an unlock code for the player to become multi-region?
Many thanks.

Have a look on www.avforums.com, there is plenty of discussion about this player in the blu-ray forums, and someone even has an unlocking remote doing the rounds.

Panasonic do not manufacture any multiregion equipment for dvd or BD and never have.

Panasonic , along with all the other quality brands have also never been hacked via the supplied remote unlike the budget brands.

Multiregion players from the quality brands are all hacked by individual specialist retailers- so dont go to Currys or Comet and expect MR Panasonic players.

There are a few sites around offering MR playback for dvd and BD on Sony and Pioneer players although I dont recall seeing any Panasonic hacked yet.

They are all grossly overpriced for the MR versions so its down to you if you think its worth it.

If you want upscaled R1 dvd's you could get a Toshiba HD DVD player - under £150 will get you a hackable model but the cheapest ones arent hacked yet.

The Panasonic BD30 hack is available from numerous sources by purchasing a remote (including ebay), some of these remotes do up to 6 players, some just one & some unlimited. There is also information on the web to tell you how to do it with a pocket PC.

Ignore all this as it is wrong. Just have a look on www.avforums.com as I said and you will see that it is possible to make it multi region using a remote that someone in the forums is sending round for free.
