I'm sure the casual viewing public only gets James as an underdog fighting to survive (the type we tend to root for). Since our BB doesn't have front page tabloid drama appeal, the average viewer will only see him as an eccentric opportunist. Anyone who really follows the show knows about his gay porn background.
No one buys his bicycling around the world angle as some sort of noble cause or humanitarian experiment. He's what we call an attention whore. How could someone with pink hair and a Brawny paper towels tattoo not have "Look at me, look at me!" syndrome. James is quirky... nothing more. |

My personal opinion of BBUS goes like this:
BB2 > BB6 > BB3 > BB8 > BB7 (All-Stars) > BB1 > BB4 > BB5 BB4 had the "twin twist" which was very cool until the reveal and then you couldn't stand either one of them. BB5 had a horrible cast of macho dumbasses (Jase and Scott Savage) and just plain dumbass (Cowboy). I rate these two seasons low because I really disliked the casts. BB7 was a special case since it had returning houseguests and they were very wary of each other and the inner workings of the game but I think they hammed it up a bit thick for the cameras. It would be a good series for watching the broadcasts but the live feeds were a chore that year. BB2, BB6 and BB3 were stellar. ![]() But yeah BB4 and BB5 are the worst because the casts on both seasons were not very good. BB4 is worth watching for Allison though and BB5 for Jase and Diane. Jase is much better in All-Stars though. BB2 is the best season and the one I would recommend most to watch, even though it doesn't have the Veto Comp it's better in a way. All of the housemates are 'real' people, they are all playing and strategising, there is lots of fun moments, lots of arguments and of course Dr Will. Great season. |

And I'll pass on the pix I think

thanks that's interesting - I think it is better that the public can't yell things over the wall and spoil it - makes it much more interesting if they really don't know what is happening outside. I am really hooked on the BB US version at the moment
![]() I am from the US and I wished our diary rooms were shown with participation from Big Brother like yours. Big Brother in UK is so mischievious. I love it.

eastern is in relation to the eastern coast, New York, down through Toronto etc, they are 5 hours behind us, central is obvious LOL and Pacific is the west coast, Washington down through California, they are 8 hours behind us. They changed their clock several weeks before we did, that accounted for the change in time that we saw it here.
If it's on at 8pm there, we see it at 1am, if it's on at 9pm, we see it at 2am. It does confuse folks in the UK because there's only 1 time zone LOL, the mainland States has 3. |

I think its 9 eastern time, 8 central time. All this equates to midnight UK time. Correct me if I am wrong guys, cause I am not certain, sometimes its 1am sometimes 12 right?

I've been watching this season on E4 for the first time. I was interested that someone said season 1 was the same format as the UK but it was a flop and they had to change it. I'm a huge Survivor fan and it seems to me that they have borrowed very heavily from that format albeit they are surviving in a house on a film lot rather than in the jungle or wherever! I like the fact that they can strategise openly. If the UK version is to survive I think they are going to have to tweak the format too.

Yeah they aimed to make it like Survivor, which is also a CBS show on the same channel as Big Brother. It's basically Survivor inside a house.

Ya, but isn't it fun to watch their faces when they hear their names being shouted out, hehe.
I am from the US and I wished our diary rooms were shown with participation from Big Brother like yours. Big Brother in UK is so mischievious. I love it.It can be amusing at times - but it just gets a bit much - interesting though that I wish ours was more like the US one and you think the opposite. The US one is more of a game, more strategic and you don't seem to get the wanabees (of which some of us are extremely bored of in the UK) Also I got hooked on US ones after one episode whereas here I take some time to get into it.I have to confess I have started reading the live feed thread and watching some of it as well - curiosity got the better of me!!! ![]()

I'm like you, I love the USA version, watch ours but don't really get hooked. I watch every episode of the USA version and just dip in and out of our version. They are different shows though, it's really survivor in a house rather than the traditional big brother format like ours.
true but that is what makes it better - UK BB producers take note

This thread is a great read
![]() Now I just need to think of a question ![]() Actually I was in the US (NYC) this week and barely anyone seemed to watch it. It gets about 6million doesn't it? And the population of the US is 5 times larger than ours, so it's more popular over here. |
