Disaster!

I'm not sure whether to panic buy and horde as many as possible or to switch to squashed fly biscuits.

They are still on the shelves in my local supermarket, and I saw them in big Tesco's last night as well. I'll stick with the dead fly biscuits though and leave the fig rolls for everyone else.

Fantastic thanks Dolly - I left the fat to get nice and hot, and put it on the gas when I was putting the batter in....then it went back in the oven and I walked away for a while....when I came back to have a sneaky peak they were the largest yorkies I've seen for ages

Just got back from Waitrose - the man told me that 2 weeks ago he'd been told to take the price ticket off the shelf....seems like fig rolls are no more (well for the forseeable future anyway)

I bought some Fox's choc millionaires instead

I was in Asda a few weeks ago, and they had none - then I was in Lidl and I asked them if they had any (they usually do). The bloke filling the shelves said "if there not out we haven't got any" - I joked I was having a hard time finding them and asked if there was a conspiracy and the guy said no.

How wrong he was, my suspicions were correct. Disaster. I can't find them in any usual stores although I bought some Boland one's, but IMO they feel a bit crustier than the usual soft ones.

I buy them for my grandad, in the hope it keeps him regular ! They are a good biscuit for me to have in, because I won't touch them! So I can safely have a dozen packets in the cupboard, safe in the knowledge I won't scoff them in a moment of weakness

We've taken our fig rolls for granted. I hope Turkey are doing all they can to resolve this crisis. I only heard about the national problem when a radio presenter took the p!ss out of a local paper that was running with the story ..... good journalism from that local paper more like, Newsnight had a food crisis special the other night and never even mentioned the fig roll!

You two have made it into the Guardian !

Heat, Hello, Take A Break, will probably be after you now for some more comments on the Fig Roll crisis.

It's nice this is getting some publicity though, most of the supermarkets I've been in haven't even had signs up (they say Sainsury's have)

Yep, my local Sainsbury's had a sign up on the shelf in the biscuit aisle saying there was a shortage of fig rolls, or something to that effect.

2 packs for a quid in my local convenience store. But is panic buying fuelling the shortage?

Why isn't Gordon Brown telling people to keep calm and not horde?

If I can't get figgy rolls on May 1st, it may well influence my vote!
