No, Unless you hook up a Video to the TV then scart the DVD player to the video, But this might cause the Macro protection to kick in.

What does the TV have as connections? If it has only an aerial then you will need an external RF modulator to connect between the DVD SCART and TV aerial socket. Maplin do such a device. You will be unlikely to find a DVD player with RF modulator built in, in fact not many DVD recorders have one and they plug into an aerial anyway!

If the TV has a set of AV phono sockets then you are in luck. The player may have a similar set of sockets on the back so you just need a set of phono to phono leads. Or you can get SCART to phono plug leads.

I use component plus audio cables to send a picture from my DVD recorder to my TV (no scart cable between the two). But, if your TV doesn't support scart, it is unlikely to support component either.

Er...admittedly it wasn't the clearest post, but he did say AV (for video? Yeah?) phonos...referring to a composite input.

Strange answers.

I have my Sky and DVD recorder connected to my LCD freeview TV by coax cable and they work perfectly.

Aerial in Sky box> Aerial out> DVD aerial in/ DVD aerial out> Freeview TV.
Freeview/Sky picture perfect. RF2 output to second TV all OK.
Wife now watches freeview TV in main room, Sky TV to spare room for sport. and can still record analogue programme on DVD.

I just turned on my Sky and played a DVD through my DVD recorder and tuned my TV on the analogue side and they tuned in OK.

Have I done something wrong?. I can record and play from Sky or analogue onto my DVD and then playback through my TV without any problems.

The OP isn't talking about a DVD recorder and using a TV aerial to record. He's talking about a DVD player, and being able to use the TV aerial socket on his TV to view DVDs. Most (pretty much all) DVD players don't have an RF in and out socket on them. Your DVD recorder does, to allow you to record TV programmes, and to pass the TV siganl on to the next thing in the chain. Are you sure that it lets you watch DVDs through the RF connection?

Yes i'm sure the DVD records and plays through the RF connection. I don't have any scarts.

You don't like stereo?, you're also watching and recording in mono, and at the lowest quality possible.

DVD recorders can often record and playback via RF (even if it not in great quality), but players don't have an RF output - and many recorders don't either.
