I don't think it was a good week for any of them, but I am shocked Michael has gone he did have problems with the song but he is a much better singer than Kirsty,syesha, and Jason..IMO
Shocker - completely. I haven't had the chance to watch the performances yet, but I can't believe he was worse the KLC 
Just seen it- so suprised...Shocking result! I think it's because he sang first, and people might've forgotten about him. There's been quite a few people eliminated who have sung first. the "death slot".
Not surprised at the bottom 3 - IMO they were worst on the night - but very surprised at who out of the three went home!
Im not that shocked at all. Right now, they need to be smart and actually accept that some people dont like their style but sing songs which their target audience willl enjoy. Kristy deserved a place in the Top 5 IMO. Im not that shocked Michael has gone. Although, it was his first time in the bottom 3, whereas for Syesha it was her 3rd!
Can't say I'm too shocked. I knew he was gonna be one of the shock eliminees this year but I expected him to make the top 6 at least.
Am not shocked anymore by who stays and who goes. Michael was one of my favourites and Syesha the other. Its possible that that his fan base was split between David C and David A. Who knows! Micheal will have a career and a good one.
On the other hand as predicted in one of my post Syesha has possibly inherited Chikezie and Ramiele's voters plus has a strong African American and R n B fanbase that do not go on line. Mind you I loved how she sang that song-plus the whistle note.
Regardless of the constant unfairness and manipulation from the judges. It's likely that the voters voted with their feet because they feel that Syesha has been treated unfairly.
As a fan I still want her voted off whether she sings well or not. I do not approve of how certain contestants are treated on this show. But she has got the exposure she needs which is important for an actress/singer/model. I can see her doing very well indeed.
As for the others I have no opinions.

It does seem weird that the person who's in the bottom 3 for the first time has been eliminated this year, 1st week David Hernandez, 2nd Amanda, 3rd Chikezie, 4th Ramiele and now Michael Johns. Carly, Syesha and Kristy must have strong fanbases that are just getting enough votes for them each week.

Yeah, I thought that Michael or Carly would be the so called "shock" eliminated contestant this year, but I'm surprised it happened this soon .... I was expecting it to be another couple of weeks down the line.
That's a real shame. I liked Michael. Thought he'd go further than this, although I'd prefer David Cook to win.
Michael and Carly suffer by being obviously not American and not having a local city or state to support them, plus they both choose songs that don't seem to mean as much to the US audience as maybe they do elsewhere. It IS called American Idol, not international Idol and to overcome that you would have to be even better than either of those are.
Carly could save herself her obvious forthcoming early elimination by coming out in a nice pink dress with her tats covered up and waving the Stars and Stripes singing Somewhere over the Rainbow, I'm Proud to be An American or anything by Julie Andrews. (Well that type of strategy has worked for Kristy!)

I was not surprised to see Michael go.Even though Kristy is by far the weakest singer/performer left,she was not the worst this week.. Regardless of the fact that Michael actually is one of the better of the remaining contestants, his butchering of Dream On was one of the worst performances of any contestant on any season of Idol, ever.He is a good singer, but trying to sing that big of a song was a mistake.
It is also possible that he went, as I suggested last week, because he is a threat to the chosen ones.
I can't say I am sorry he went either way, though, after the way he butchered that song.

Have a feeling something behind the scenes may have thrown him off this week. His whole demeanour just seemed odd.
Carly: Like Michael, I really wish she'd stop picking songs that are far too big for her! (In fact, I wish they'd all just stop singing Queen songs - with the exception of Constantine, no-one's done them justice with a final 12 performance) Agreed with Simon's comment about the angry performance too. And the air of desperation is back too. Really not good.
David A: Contra to everyone elses opinion, it seems, I really didn't like this! He sang it well enough - in tune, pleasant voice etc. I just really resent that he managed to turn a great belting anthem into a syrup-y love ballad. Urgh.
Brooke - She's still not back on top form but it was actually my third fave of the night (helped by the fact that some of the others were so bad!) It didn't rock the world and wasn't a show-stopping number, but listening to it made me smile.
Best - Jason, followed by Kristy, then Brooke.
Worst - Carly, followed by Syesha, then David C & Michael tied.
Think Carly may go home but rather hope it's Syesha.”

great analysis, unfortunately for Carly, I reckon she'll be out in the next couple of weeks, no matter how well she does as she's not american and will run out of votes. From what I've seen so far it's a male year with David v David for the final two. From those two, I reckon David will win

A little off-topic, but does anyone else agree that Miley Cyrus can't sing? It was the first time I heard her (unfortunately) last night and I don't like her as a person either.
Anne Wilson is one of my Favorite singers of all time, and she still is almost as great as she was in her prime.
Fergie was okay, but this song is big, and her voice is too weak and brittle to handle it.Not bad, but not good enough for songs that require exceptional vocal ability.She needs to stick to lite r&bhiphop/pop and rapping.

I've just re-watched Idol gives back and Carrie's performance gave me boosebumps.
Love when near the end, she gets a little choked up while singing - it's a beautiful performance.

Haven't seent his discussed anywhere else, but isn't it odd that amount raised on Idol Gives Back was $60m only? Slightly less than Children in Neeed. I was nauseated by Gordon Brown's PR stunt that he was going to donate $200m for mosquito nets. Maybe US public thought after such a grand 'gesture' there was no need to donate any more.
It's a shame ITV cut the actual "live" parts of IGB that took place in the regular Idol studio with the contestants answering the phone pledges, it would have been interesting to see the silly banter, get to know the contestants a little more perhaps, and a good way to balance out the show so it wasn't all performer/video package/performer/video package.
I'm guessing ITV cut it for time and/or because phone numbers might have been mentioned, but they could have spliced those out...shame...ITV2 butchers as always! lol, oh and the Gordon Brown thingy...cringeworthy to say the least I'm also thinking there were perhaps more of those sort of contributions throughout the live studio sections as this was the only time we saw them there manning the phones...obviously ITV made special effort to include Brown's bit
