Hearing TV sounds when using 810

Anyone experienced hearing the sound from the programme on the TV when using their pvr ?

If the pvr programme sound is low or muted I can hear ,very faintly, the sound of the programme that the TV is tuned into.

Not neccessarily a Digihome problem--probably my Philips TV--but interested to know if anyone else has had the same.

I used to get that sometimes when using my old Nokia Freeview box and it really, really annoyed me. I don't get that with my new one (Wharfedale) anymore - just white noise (I think).

This often occurs if the TV has a built-in digital tuner to allow it to pick up Freeview channels without having an external STB or PVR. The TV has the ability to output its Freeview signal down one or both of its scart connections, to allow you to record that Freeview signal on an external DVDR or VCR, but often this signal clashes with the signal of the source at the other end and you end up hearing the audio output from the TV's freeview signal - or see slight ghosting as the video output from the TV's freeview signal is mixed with the picture from the source.

One way to get round this is to tune your TV's freeview channel to a channel that is not playing any picture and/or audio - one of the TUTV channels that is not broadcasting at the moment.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll try this.

It did work but I had to select a non-broadcasting channel on both digital and analogue to stop sound bleeding through from the TV.

Thanks anyway but I think I'll just put up with it for now.

You could use a one way scart cable, instead of a fully wired one. It would only have enough cores to send the signals to the tv with no return path wired in. Don't know where you'd get one these days though, even the cheapo places seem to sell fully wired ones.

If you fancy a bit of DIY you could adapt a fully wired one yourself by cutting the return audio lines at the tv end.

Thanks , another option to consider . I've plenty of scart cables I can experiment with when I find out which lines to cut.

Aha! Since I got my DTV I'd been wondering why I could still hear faint sound when I muted the PVR. Thanks a lot
